Editorial Reviews

Launching Mellen's , Trevett's (Cardiff U.) third book about Quakers focuses on remarkable women of the first half century of the denomination, with an emphasis on those in Wales, which have received considerably less attention than their English sisters. Her topics include Quaker prophet-preachers as holy tremblers, women and the coming of Quakerism to Wales in 1635-1660, William Erbery and his daughter Dorcas, sufferings and the prophet emigrants of Wales in 1660-1700, and Anne Camm and the vanishing Quaker prophets. Some of the nine chapters have been published separately. Only names are indexed. The text is double spaced. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
