Love—Plain and Simple—Finds a Home in Indiana

Four Quaker women face trials of faith—and the heart—across generations.

Ruth Payne’s bridegroom has cold feet. . .for the second time. . .and Ruth is reluctant to give him a third chance at love. For Josiah Wall, everything he has worked for means nothing without the woman he loves. But can he convince Ruth that he won’t back out again?

Deborah Wall is thrilled to work at a hub of the Underground Railroad. Then wounded Nathaniel Fox—a bounty hunter for runaway slaves—is left to her care. Will Nathaniel put an end to Deborah’s abolitionist crusade, or open up her heart to love?

Leah Wall came to her uncle’s farm as an unwanted, poor relation. Realizing she has little choice, Leah accepts an arranged marriage, becoming a wife in name only to widowed Caleb Whitaker. But will the letters they exchange be a firm enough foundation for lasting love?

Catherine Wall is frustrated. No matter what she says, she can’t convince Jaidon Taylor that their love is not meant to be. . .they are just too different. But when it comes to love, are they really that different?

Will these women withstand the test of love?

Editorial Reviews

Labor Not in Vain - Faith Oygard
This was an absolutely lovely novella collection, though and I would recommend it to Amish Fiction fans who might be looking for a little something different :)
Reviews by Jenilee - Jenilee Goodwin
The Quakers of New Garden was an enjoyable read. I read it very quickly because the stories are simple. But, although they were simple, each story had strong emphasis on faith, family, and friends. I think the authors did a fantastic job of weaving their books together, taking us from one generation to the next. It was fun as the reader, to travel through time with this family!

    Fairly good historical fiction

Christian romance tends to be smaltzy, and I did cry on finishing one of these four, but the historical thread is what kept me reading. I have a second of these type and I will read it as well
