Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Phyllis J. Perry
The fairies are enjoying a sunny, windy day in Pixie Hollow, the Kingdom of the Never Fairies, where each fairy has a special talent. When Prilla sees Queen Clarion walking along without her usual attendants, Prilla flies down to offer to walk with her. Suddenly Queen Clarion seems to disappear. Prilla feels uneasy. When the queen does not appear at tea time, Prilla begins to look for the queen all over Pixie Hollow. She is joined in her search by Lily and Beck. When they cannot find her in all the usual places, they look for her in the underground tunnels. Failing to find her there, they go search in the air on a kite. Eventually, relying on their special talents, they find her and watch as the Queen gives the precious heart seed as a gift to the Sky Bird and in return takes a small fruit as a gift to Mother Dove. With pixie dust sprinkled on the kite, the fairies make it safely back to their home. Pixie fans will enjoy this latest mystery and adventure. The illustrations are colorful, lively, and enchanting. This is the 16th book in the Tales of Pixie Hollow Series but it is the first book in which the character on the cover, and title, is not from their point of view. It is in the point of view of Prilla who notices that the Queen and the precious magical heart seed is missing. As always the images are beautifully drawn. The story is sweet. I am a fan of Prilla the clumsy (their word for humans) fairy. Prilla runs into Lily and Beck. Beck is a animal fairy who can talk to all animals and talking to frogs is a hoot! I was hoping this was a story featuring the Queen as the main character but sometimes you can not have everything. We get to hear little about Mother Dove which makes up a little for the lack in Queen Clarion’s story. I love the Disney Fairies movies but I the books I enjoy more because there are more fairies and other characters then the movies. My wish is that the books continue to be on bookstore shelves for a long time to always enjoy.
