I read the last two, The Bishop and The Queen, because I had already bought them and wasted the money.  I do not like it when authors always have the bad guys outsmarting the cops at every turn.  I get the feeling this author doesn't particularly care for polize, FBI or any of these types.  Each book seems to have inept police, and bad cops.  Trying to hard with the relationship twists and turns, no longer even FEELS realistic.  Everything is running together and not in good ways.  I was glad to be at the  end of this one and decided to stop here.  I normally like an author and then read the entire series, but this is seriously FLAWED.  I don't think I want to spend the time trying to figure out which good friend of his is part of the bad guys again.  The redeeming character for a while was his daughter, but not sure even on that anymore.  And to continually have the bad guy get away so we can have him in yet another book is wearing thin.

The books are good..but am I the only one who thinks Tessa sounds and acts more like a child than a teenager? Very annoying

I found The Pawn in our church library and got hooked on the series.. Have read The Rook and The Bishop, and just finished The Queen. Great reads. Keeps me up late at night and hungry for more when I finish a book. The complete series - five stars all the way. I just purchased The King and can't wait to delve into it. Actually I dread finishing The King. What will I read next?

I think instead of "the queen", this book should be called "the masterpiece." It was just that good...
