Overview

Retired Colonel Ronald Haines, the patriarch of a three-generation military family and Medal of Honor recipient, is a successful designer and manufacturer of military radar technology. When his grandson's young wife, an NSA analyst, is murdered in their suburban DC home, the crime is reported as a random burglary gone violent. When the FBI stalls the investigation, the skeptical Colonel orders his brash, adventurous Director of Security, Jack Vavak, to investigate. Teamed up with a group of Colonel Haines' former military associates and the victim's beautiful twin sister, the investigation leads to a shocking web of political and international intrigue.
Fighting a personal vendetta from a hostile senator, scandalous articles written by a leftist newspaper reporter, and years of audits by the Internal Revenue Service, the Colonel and his investigative cadre uncover a treasonous conspiracy that may include a connection to the New York City Hall, the US Justice Department, and even the White House. Becoming targets themselves, the Colonel and his people must solve this mystery and expose these conspirators before the lives of his entire family, as well as everyone he cares about, face grave danger.
Quest for Power is a riveting political thriller, the story of the unlimited means corrupt politicians will endeavor to gain power and how a multi-trillion dollar federal government could serve to undermine national security and potentially bring down the world's greatest nation.

Meet the Author

James Herbert Harrison was born in central Missouri and grew up in the southeast Missouri river town of Cape Girardeau. James was the oldest of three siblings, gaining from the strong exposure of Midwestern, patriotic values, his father's strong work ethic, and the strong moral influence of his mother.

Foregoing college, James started his own business two days after turning twenty one years of age and after several years as a small businessman, relocated to Chicago and began a career in sales and marketing. Living and working in thirty eight states over the course of near thirty years, he has held various positions from street salesman to national sales management.

An avid NRA member, James has extensive knowledge of American military history, specifically the civil war and civil war small arms. Having a conservative orientation politically, he is a supporter of the American Tea Party movement and strong proponent of the Fair Tax Bill.

A constant consumer of political/military fiction thrillers, James has read the works of Frederick Forsythe, Tom Clancy, Larry Bond, and Brad Thor, to name a few. His favorite, the man whose story inspired his venture into fictional writing, is Vince Flynn, whom Harrison considers the contemporary master of the trade.

James has a diverse alternative interest in automobile motor racing and has traveled nationally and internationally to over sixty major events.

Residing currently in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park, Kansas, Harrison lives with his wife, Maryna, and two year old son, Steven. He also has a twenty three year old son, Bill, who currently resides in Cape Girardeau.

    Super Plot!

This book has so many twists and turns, I couldn't put it down. Never read a novel that was so creatively written by using many of the current headlines and turning those into fiction. Author is obviously a conservative individual but the story has heros and villains on both sides. Can't wait for the sequel.

    Most explosive book ever written!

I had the liberty of reading much of the novel on an associate's Kindle box over the weekend and couldn't wait to buy the hard cover edition. I'm here because B&N has the best deal I'[ve found so far. This is without doubt the most explosive and shocking story about politics ever written and I've read them all. If you like Grisham, Flynn, or Patterson, you must read this!

What a great read! Although it is a work of fiction, it provides much valuble insight into the workings and manipulations of the Washington power elite. I predict that James Herbert Harrison will soon take his place alongside such authors as Tom Clancy and Vince Flynn. Bravo, James!

This book was highly recommended by a fellow veteran from Houston. This is one story that will be read in a few days because it's so hard to put down. Thank God this is just a work of fiction - I just hope as a patriotic American this isn't fiction based on fact. James Herbert Harrison has just become my favorite author and I cannot wait for The Odessa Accord to be released.

    Political rag!

This is just another one of those right-wing wacko authors like Thor or Flynn who love war, hate progessives, and write to blast the Democrat Party. There is enough hateful media out there now without more of this trash.

    Quite a story teller

Quest For Power may be the most explosive tale about crime and politics ever written. The style of the text is somewhat rough around the edges in places but the no-holds-barred plot makes up for it. Purely as a story teller, I would rank this author right up there with Clancy or Ludlum. Look forward to his next work.
