Overview

The earl of Shaftesbury's countess must be refined. Cultured. Perfect. It was a lesson that proper Evelyn Ashley-Cooper had learned flawlessly over six oppressive years of marriage. Even when widowhood freed her from the prison her life had become, Eve still floundered under the veneer of perfection that her domineering husband demanded, unable to unleash the lively girl she once was from the confines of her prim exterior.

But when her long-lost first love Francis MacKintosh, earl Glenrothes reappears in her life, Eve is tempted by the desire to escape her proper façade and the longing to truly live once again. Discovering that enticement alone cannot overrule years of tyranny, Eve struggles between her old self and the new, between yearning to be with him and a determination never to put herself under the thumb of another man - even one she discovers she still loves as much as her Glenrothes.

Since meeting a vivacious, young Eve many years before, Francis MacKintosh has become a man embittered by life, by a wife who has made him a cuckold to the whole of Scotland and by a humiliating divorce that has rained scandal down upon the heads of himself and his family for years. Never had he thought that he would find Eve, his Eden, once again or that he would dare push aside his disdain of the fairer sex, to trust and love once more. But for Eve, for the love and happiness he is suddenly certain they can find only in each other, he finds himself willing to take a chance.

If only he might convince his true love to do the same!

Francis' seduction and ability to blend her proper side with the spirited Eve of years past lure the countess back to him but just when happiness seems but a step away, their mutual pasts will come crashing down around them attempting to tear them apart and Eve and Francis will have to risk their lives for a future together.

The question remains, will their rediscovered love be enough to conquer all?

Trilogy by Angeline Fortin

I have read all three of the books by Angeline Fortin. Question of Love, Question of Trust and Question of Lust. There were all awesome. They are stories of friends and sisters who have been separated after their school years to be reunited in their twenties. The first book ended with a lead into the second and the same with the next. There is humor but also the frustration of the time they lived, having to be obedient to the wishes of their parents, where mos

    Captivating!

I had never before read this author, but after the first few pages, the characters and story take hold. It is very well rounded in romance, seduction, intrigue, and adventure. The pages keep turning on their own as you get drawn into this miraculous world created. Author, my greatest praises for a most enjoyable afternoon and evening getting lost in this story. I wholly anticipate reading the next two in this series.

    Must Read!

This was a wonderful story. Her wonderful characters capture my attention right from the beginning. I've read her time travel book as well & it got me going on this series which is much more poignant but still has moments of humor. I love that there will be more to come on the MacKintosh clan. Looking forward to more in the series!

    more from this reviewer

    It was OK

I didn't care much for the language...it didn't seem to fit the period or the setting that the story took place.

    Excellent Historical Romance

Hard to put down and twists and turns from beginning to end.
Just enough romance without being overly graphic. Can't wait to read the other books in this series. I highly recommend this book.

    Great Book!

As I've said before in my other reviews on this series. I loved it.
I can't wait to read more about this family. This is the second book, you must read them all. I'm sure there will be a book on Fiona and Harry, can not wait to read it. Note to the author which I'm sure she must know already, you've got a good this going here don't stop, just keep adding to this series.

Overrated! I bought all 3 due to the hi ratings and could not get even halfway thru the first book. SLOW paced and incredibly boring, then all of a sudden 8 yrs have gone by. I can not get past the bad writing style and warm up to any of the characters.

Would give it 4.5 stars. Can't believe it was only $.99 for alm

Would give it 4.5 stars. Can't believe it was only $.99 for almost 1400 pages, for that alone it should get 5 stars. It was so wordy in alot of places, that I found myself skimming over paragraphs, that is why I didn't give 5 stars. I have to admit alot of twists, surprises that I didn't see coming. Really believeable character's and I loved not only the main character's but the secondary ones as well. I have already bought the rest of the series and you can't go wrong with this author or the Question Series.

    1st of 3 good books

A Question of Love is the 1st in the series of 3 good books (the others are Question of Trust and Question of Lust).

Eve is a sassy, fun, headstrong person, whose forced into marriage by her father. Dad is a good guy, but he feels like he's going to die soon, and wants to make sure his girls are ok. Before she agrees to it, she meets an amazing man (Francis), and it's love at first site, but he's already married to a wicked, conniving, cheating person. So they go their separate ways.

Unfortunately, Dad has picked the wrong guy for her. The man Eve marries is a controlling, awful person, and he's constantly abusive. She finally gets away from him because she thinks he's died on a ship (he's not, but she doesn't know that). She agrees to help out with a friend's wedding preparations, and that's when she sees Francis again (he's now divorced). They try to make things work, but it's hard for both of them, especially Eve. Sometimes when you've been abused for so long, life is a struggle, and it's hard to function. The author makes an effort to show that even if you have something like that happen to you, you can try to overcome it and find happiness.

I wanted this book to be good

But it dragged on and on in alot of places. Eve was stupid and annoying and i had a hard time liking her. U feel sorry for her at first for marrying a crappy man but she acted like a weakling afterwards for too long it got annoying real quick. Someone threatens your child and you worry about the scandel it will cause? Uhh o...k watever, didnt like this one. The book started off good, Eve seemed like this bold strong sassy young lady who the author basically beat down and made her a shell of her former self. Ive read plenty of books where authors have made their heriones go thru way worse things than this Eve character did and still be strong and smart. Eve came off like she had to be taken care of. She didnt really stick up for herself, she let her crazy husband repeatedly walk right up to her and jerk her around or smack her and its like will u be smarter! Jeesh, i got too irritated. This book was a bad purchase and im not sure im willing to try another book by this author.

    Great Characters

After reading this book I couldn't stop thinking about the characters. This book made me forget about where I was and brought me right into the the lives of the characters. I had a very hard time putting it down. One note though, the editors need more work in proofreading prior to publishing, but the author had some great moments, some made me laugh, some made me cry. Hopefully we will be seeing more from this author soon.
