This book is great, and we have bought two more copies already for our son's friends. Great story, well written, the pictures are amazing (as we have found by these author's previously as well), and my son loves the juxtaposition - OK, he doesn't know what that means, but he loves the idea in his own way - and really interacts well with this book. What a great message too, how no matter if you are tall or small, cold or hot, whatever the case, we all feel that way sometimes and it makes all of us who we are. Highly, highly recommend this book, although I must say I have seen it cheaper on other sites before, I just happened to get a deal this time around on B&N, which does happen if you look for it. I hope you enjoy.

I read this book to my 26-year-old son when he was a toddler, read it to his 2 brothers that followed. As a teacher, I use it to teach literary skills. Now, as a grandmother, my 3-year-old granddaughter loves to sit with me and read the book a MINIMUM of 3 times. She reads to me the last time! She loves "our" book so much that I bought her her own scaled-down board book version of Quick as a Cricket. Besides the creative use of language, the illustrations are engaging and wonderful. My children and my students learn to become increasingly self-aware of emotions and love to compare themselves to the animals. Because of the "wild chimps" at the end, I personally would not recommend this as a bedtime book because we like to act out each page!

This is the book I remember most from my childhood, and every child I have read it to loved it and wanted me to read it over and over again. Really cute book for boys and girls.
