Meet the Author

Juanita Davies, B.Sc., HRA, is an award-winning instructor who has taught anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology in various disciplines, including health information management, medical transcription, and legal and real-time reporting. Davies has written extensively on the subject of medical terminology. Her early work includes A PROGRAMMED LEARNING APPROACH TO MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY and a computerized test bank containing 15,000 questions used by health care students for more than 30 years. Her first book, MODERN MEDICAL LANGUAGE, is a high-level text comprising anatomy, medical terminology, pathology, signs and symptoms, diagnostic procedures, and treatment. Her second, ESSENTIALS OF MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY, is a very popular anatomy and medical terminology text suitable for two-semester terminology courses. Her third book, A QUICK REFERENCE TO MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY, is a useful handbook that can serve as an affordable one-semester terminology text, or provide comprehensive coverage when bundled with an anatomy and physiology text. AN ILLUSTRATED GUIDE TO MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY, her fourth book, is aligned with the needs of second-language learners and others who find reading English a challenge. With its focus on illustrations and the use of simple text and straightforward delivery, ILLUSTRATED is both comprehensive in scope and highly effective for today's visual learners.

    Medical Terminology

This book is not as comprehensive as I would have hoped. There are loads of terms I am trying to learn that are not in this book. This book does, however, do an excellent job presenting the words that it does cover. It offers good background information and memory aids that make memorizing terms more interesting than monotonous.

    Overall, excellent study aid!
