I really wanted to like this book series since I greatly appreciate Mr. Driver for many reasons, mostly NOT to do with football, ironically, although I support his athletic efforts as well.
However, I find the artwork to be badly juvenile in the sense that it is not good drawing for kids or adults, but supposed to be juvenile in content, not quality.
The drawings remind me of Byzantine artists of the 1400s who painted cherubs and infants with adult faces. It's creepy and off-putting.
I also hope he changes the name, since "Quickie" evokes a wholly different meaning and deepens my sense of being disturbed by this creation.
I hope Mr. Driver uses his charm, wisdom, intellect, and celebrity to retain a different artist and create a new "staple" character.
The book has good intentions, and it promotes children's reading on some level, so I'll give it one star better than the lowest rating.
Sorry, I really wanted to like it beyond that, but I can't find another redeeming quality.
It is not worth the time or money, unless you collect anything and everything that the artist or author makes.

When Donald Driver was on Dancing with the Stars, we read that he had written children's books. We decided to buy one for our grandchildren. We bought the first in time for our grandson's birthday. He loved it - my wife, his grandmother, would read it to him before bed every night. He's 6 - his older brother 7 - would read the ending each night.
This is the second one and the boys loved it also.
I believe all kids would love these books.
