PreS-K—One snowy day, Quiet Bunny wakes up eager to play. His friends, however, are getting ready for the long winter. Bear cub is about to hibernate, the pond ducks have migrated, and the bullfrog is asleep deep beneath the ice. Then a noisy puppy bounds out from a snowdrift and initiates an offer to play. Quiet Bunny considers it as he looks over Noisy Puppy's physical characteristics. A brief visit from Owl comes with a lesson about friendship and acceptance, leaving the two young animals ready to frolic all winter long. As the snow melts, birds return, and Noisy Puppy must return to work on the farm. Soon enough, Noisy Puppy finds Quiet Bunny the following winter. The illustrations of the animals are as warm and fuzzy as the book's message. The full-spread paintings and well-paced text make this a good selection for group sharing.—Laura Butler, Mount Laurel Library, NJ
Kirkus Reviews
Quiet Bunny's third outing (Quiet Bunny's Many Colors, 2011, etc.) explores opposites as he makes a new friend who is his different from him in every way. The first snowfall of winter finds Quiet Bunny searching for a friend to play with, but they have all flown south, fallen asleep or hidden themselves away from the weather. Just then, a noisy puppy arrives on the scene, inviting Quiet Bunny to play with him. Quiet Bunny is unsure, noting their differences. The owl, who continues to do Bunny's thinking for him, swoops in and pronounces: "You can be different and still be friends." Thus reassured, the two become best friends, reveling in their differences. Over and under, around and across, in and out, up and down, the two play. Spring sends Noisy Puppy back to work on the farm, but winter's return brings them back together, even more different than before. McCue's animals are as Gund-soft as ever, almost too sweet. Their expressive faces and body language leave no doubt as to their emotions, although the text often spells it out anyway. For those toddlers who crave more of a story than traditional opposites books offer, this just may fit the bill. (Picture book. 3-6)

I have 3 year old twins, one loves puppies, the other loves bunnies. This book was an instant hit. We have read this book almost every night for the last month. This speaks volumes at our house, my kids loose interest quickly in most books. Quiet Bunny and Noisy puppy is a winner!
