I wish more books were written for this subject --- MEN. While there are lots of quilts patterns out there that lend themselves to the male side of the species, there aren¿t a lot of books specifically for men. This makes this one a treasure!
From baby to octogenarian, there is a quilt for every male in your life. A baker¿s dozen of patterns should provide you with one that will be just right for the gift or ¿just because¿ item you need. The book begins with six pages of general instructions. We all need this type of overview from time to time, especially with appliqué. Who knows? You might just learn a new or better way to do it!
The patterns begin with suggestions for the baby using bears, cowboys, magicians and bugs. A full page photo of the finished project will give you a very good idea of how your finished item will look. Material and cutting lists are next and include the finished size of the quilt. Putting the pieces together is next and there are great graphics to show you the steps as well as the written ones. The final instructions are about finishing the quilt. For those quilts with appliqué pieces, the templates are full sized so no running to the copy store is needed which is always a plus for me as I usually am ready to start a quilt and then discover that the templates have to be enlarged!
One of the patterns is for a magician¿s cape for your budding young entrepreneur! And as the male in your life grows, so do the themes in the quilts. There is one for the beach, one for his bachelor¿s pad and, of course, the sports themes cannot be left out. My favorite one is the nautical alphabet quilt as we are Coast Guard Auxiliary and it will be the perfect one to make for the auction at our next conference.
Be sure to add this wonderful book of quilts for men to your quilting library!
