It's a nice idea & has some good information, but the authors include affirmation breaks constantly. These are lofty, sing-songy, too sweet affirmations set to music that are just 'too much.' It would be great if they were in one section (at the end, a bunch together) or if they were spaced out every 20 minutes or something. But it seems they break into the middle of the discussion every couple minutes. I'd look into other options for a quit smoking cd.
I am writing this review more for the other quit smoking tape by Effective Learning Systems. This one proved to be a good companion to it, and kind of reinforces what you are trying to develope. The affirmation breaks seem a little corny and contrived, but are surprisingly effective. I had always considered affirmations to be the other side of denial, so I never put much stock in them. The subliminal tape by Bob Griswold is very effective at reprogramming your subconscious at non smoking, and short of seeing a professional hypnotist, I would reccomend this as a quick and affordable substitute. The tapes however will not stop you from smoking unless you are ready to quit. I went into it expecting things to be different, and they were. I didn't want cigarettes anymore, but I needed something to replace them with, and deep down inside I wasn't ready to quit. You have to want it. I finally decided that I did, and now the effects of the tape are much more noticeable. I smoke less, and feel better. I'm about fifteen days into the thirty day program, and I can comfortably say, so far so good. You really gotta want it though. Once you've done the tapes a couple of times you can really feel a conflict going on in your brain. It may cause some anxiety and or depression, at least it did for me, but if it helps you quit smoking then it is well worth it. This review is longer than I expected it to be, but one should really know what they are buying into. Even if you are only looking to cut back, this tape should allow you to do so more easily. I can't imagine my 12 cigarette a day habit anymore. I just can't bring myself to do it. Okay this is long. Quit smoking!
