Filho (TuTech Innovation, Germany) and Gramatikov (Southwest U. "Neofit Rilsky," Bulgaria) present 17 papers from the eponymous NATO Advanced Workshop, held in Bulgaria in May 2004 and dedicated to exploring different dimensions of innovation and their relation to the growth and financing of research and development in Eastern and Central European countries. The papers address the sources of funding for research and development and assess its impact on innovation.
