School Library Journal - School Library Journal
PreS-Gr 3-- While this child-sized treasury sings the praises of the rabbit through quality poetry and illustrations, its purpose is unclear. Fifteen short, mostly lyrical, poems from such masters as William Wordsworth, Walter de la Mare, and Elizabeth Coatsworth are nicely integrated with reproductions of antique illustrations, many from the early 1900s. Soft-toned pictures lend a classic note to the book, which would make a delightful gift for a young child. With thick, bordered pages, crisp patterned endpapers, and distinguished content, it's an attractive offering. However, it won't fill a void in any library. Much of the poetry has been published elsewhere, and the narrow scope limits its use for anything other than browsing. --Sharon Korbeck, Milwaukee Public Library
