Editorial Reviews

Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Steve C Censky, BBA, RTR (United Regional Medical Services, Inc.)
Description: The book could be a useful guide for technologists were it not for the poor image quality of the photos. The author has done a reasonable job of explaining some of the finer points of MRI imaging procedures, but does tend to oversimplify at times.
Purpose: The purpose of the book is to provide a guide for technologists preparing to take the advanced level registry exam in MRI. It may also be used by physicians as a quick reference. The objectives are worthy, but the illustrations are of such poor quality that they're of little help most of the time, especially when attempting to view the smaller structures of the anatomy. I don't feel the objectives were met for this book due to the poor image quality of the illustrations.
Audience: The book was written for the experienced MRI technologist who has been working in the field and has knowledge of MR physics and the anatomy as seen on a MRI image. The author is a credible authority on the subject matter.
Features: The book covers most aspects of MRI imaging. It is set up in a very logical and understandable manner. The one drawback is the quality of the illustrations. In most cases, they're so dark they're of little or no value to the reader as either reference or information.
Assessment: The book is a useful tool for the practicing MRI technologist. Much of the information is presented in a simple enough format that most would understand it.
