Editorial Reviews

Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Sonia Stephenson, RTR (Froedtert Hospital)
Description: This is a complete review for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) exam. It follows the ARRT exam format with many helpful illustrations and diagrams. Each area has exercises to ensure understanding and chapter review questions. A 200-question sample test is included at the end of the book along with an explanation of the answers. This book truly is designed to help prepare the radiologic technologist for success.
Purpose: This book is helpful for the radiology students who are preparing for their ARRT certification examination. It will help students focus their study in all the areas that are covered on the exam. The PREP is very helpful to both the student preparing for the exam and the educators helping the students. The student and educators will be able to identify areas that may need more attention. The book is broken up into small sections, making it easier to review all the needed concepts for the examination.
Audience: The audience for this book are radiologic technologist students and educators of radiology. It summarizes the entire radiography curriculum. The author, a program director of a radiology program, is well versed in what is needed to help prepare students for success.
Features: The book covers thoroughly the five areas that are on the ARRT examination. Each section is subdivided to help the student break down the information logically. The book is complete with over 280 illustrations to help appeal to the visual learner. These illustrations include radiographs and diagrams labeled with anatomy. Summary points at the end of each section are helpful for a quick review. Chapter exercises help to ensure understanding for the material covered. After the chapter exercises, sample registry type questions will help the student to master the information in that section. The endpapers of the book are not wasted space, they serve as a "last minute cheat sheet," with formulas, landmarks, and processing systems listed on them. This book is extremely well organized and formatted to make retention easier.
Assessment: This review is not only helpful to the student, but can also be used as a guide for the educator. This edition reflects the changes to the ARRT Content Specifications implemented January 2001. Material on digital/electronic imaging and the most recent isolation precautions are also included. This is a book that can be used throughout the radiologic technology program.

Buy this book, best review available!

This book is much more helpful than others such as Appleton & Lange's 5th edition. It offers a full review broken down into chapters with questions at the end of each. I passed my boards the very first time with an 84. I had quite a few questions on my board exam that were the exact identical questions I studied in this book! *****
