Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Beth Amos
The troubadour of Toddlerville celebrates the Christmas season with this newly remastered classic. Raffi, a three-time Grammy Award nominee, revolutionized children's music in the '70s and '80s with kid-friendly songs drawing on reggae, ragtime, gospel, jazz, country, and calypso. With his blend of creativity and whimsy, Raffi ups the ante with some holiday spirit on Raffi's Christmas Album. Here, he brings together interpretations of seasonal holiday classics ("Jingle Bells," "Frosty the Snowman," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer") and lesser-known gems (Roger Miller's "Old Toy Trains" and Tex Logan's "Christmas Time's A-Coming"), as well as several Raffi originals ("Every...

With his blend of creativity and whimsy, Raffi ups the ante with some holiday spirit on Raffi's Christmas Album. The music is simple but the rhythms are contagious, and Raffi's eclectic arrangements -- culling accordion, harmonica, orchestra bells, flugelhorn, and seasonal bells and whistles -- are simply irresistible. A children's chorus harmonizes with Raffi's up-front lead vocals on several songs, making sing-alongs from youthful listeners inevitable. In his song "On Christmas Morning," Raffi sums it up nicely: "On Christmas morning/We can sing and celebrate/And make the feeling stay/All through the day."
All Music Guide - David A. Milberg
This is an essential collection that's perfect for kids and still enjoyable for adults. [The 2002 reissue contains one bonus track.]

Don't buy anything else! This is by far the best Christmas collection. My sons are 32 and 31 and still request and sing Raffi's songs every Christmas holiday. And I have my first grandchild this year and guess what he is getting this Christmas - - His own copy of this CD so that he too can grow up signing these songs with his family. This tradition of Raffi songs will never die!

25 years after recieving the cassette for Christmas, this is still my favorite holiday album.  The bonus edition CD is even better than the original.  I recommend this for children and anyone who appreciates simple, honest, fun to sing along with Christmas music.

    My children's favorite for years

Thais is an adorable record. It is gentle and upbeat and sweet. perfect for small ones -- though now that my kids are 21 and 25, they still ask to hear it.

    Timeless & Treasured

I can tire of Mannheim Steamroller, the best country Christmas collection, and even Handel's The Messiah, but I can play Raffi's Christmas Album over and over and every time it's fresh and clean and singable. This is my favorite Christmas collection by far.

    A "must have" !

Even though my children are in college, it's not Christmas without hearing Raffi's delightful Christmas album. We have fond memories of many sing-a-longs in the car during holiday road trips. Since we now have cars with a CD player, I am replacing our worn-out cassette with the CD so,once again,we can enjoy Christmas songs by Raffi while driving. Favorite songs(though ALL are great):Must Be Santa,Douglas Mountain and Petit Papa Noel.

    A Christmas Classic. Very Special!

This is a wonderful CD! It has a great mix of Christmas classics for children and some excellent Raffi additions, like "On Christmas Morning" and "Petit Papa Noel." Our children listen to this over and over. They think this is the best children's Christmas music CD in the world, and it is. I highly recommend Raffi for you and your children!
