None of the reviews available here is about this book This book tells the story of Charla Mack's murder and the attempted murder of Judge Weller. It is an interesting read thus far. If you are not wanting to read about this murder and attempted murder you should not purchase and the reviews about a different book belong elsewhere.

Rage is a little different then your standard Stephen King book

Rage is a little different then your standard Stephen King book and the first of the now infamous "Bachman Books." It also has the stigma of having its publication permanently stopped after the Columbine shootings. It's not a typical horror novel - more like a psychological thriller. The book revolves around a high school kid that had a traumatic childhood that eventually comes out via several acts of escalating violence against the teachers and administrators in his school. He also takes an entire classroom hostage where they have some very bizarre interactions. Definitely not as good as most works by Stephen King. Does an admirable job of exploring the psyche of a tormented and mentally ill individual and it does make you think a little bit (particularly in the context of the world we live in 30+ years after it was first published). A chilling preview of what would happen at Columbine and other schools - but otherwise one of King's worst books.

    What a pity, but...

Oh yes, Rage isn`t avalaible at the moment, and I guess it won`t be in the near future, because it isn`t re-printed again due to school-shootings in the US. But there`s still a chance for you to purchase this book, if you`re interested, or if you`re a dedicated S.K.-fan. You only have to enter Bachman Books into the blank field and buy it! This wonderful collection of four early S.K.-novels contains the novel Rage...

    Great Book

Despite containing a few flaws including gross exageration, and perhaps, painting an over-simplified and decisively Freudian picture of the human psyche, this novel stands out as a truly incredible piece of fiction. Despite King's decision to prevent future printings of Rage, I find this troubling novel worthy of preservation. While I disagree that King should relate any responsibility for school shootings to this novel I will admit that it seems frighteningly realistic. A sad but good story: One I consider worth reading. P.S. I will second King in stating: Please do not use the book as a model for determining a course of action.
