The Turning ~ 0N&Zeta

A simple prick. That's all it takes. All it takes to transform a simple human being into a lustfilled, supersmart, killing machine.

My name: Chatherine Rose McHilt-Duchet. To them, I am a target.

My job: I work for the most top secret agency around, the GHECO. Genetic Horomone Enhancement and Cloning Organization. Well, once top secret. Now the world knows. Now the world wishes us dead.

It all began as a simple way from death. Yeah... we sure made them immortal.... Too well...

A monkey, spider monkey to be exact, injected with a test of the AAIH syrum, some how got loose from the facility.

Now, we suspect sabatoge was the case.

We managed to stop the monkey before it could escape the surrounding area. Shot down before my eyes.

We returned to find two guards dead, five of our scientists out cold, and the entire case of AAIH syrum missing.

A day later, an unusual case of influenza had infected a fifth of the population of a small town near our facility.

    The next day, 25% infected.

    And the next, 77%.

By that weekend, the whole town was infected. Most were mild cases, but the normal shot for influenza was inaffective.

My team was ready to call the government and report an epidemic.

The next week, though, all symptoms were gone. As if nothing had happened.

We were baffled. Maybe it was just a strange bug imported from a forgien country that had carried a harmless disease.

At least there were no fatilities yet. Yet.

Life continued as normal for the next month. I, however, remained at the facility, trying to recreate the exact AAIH syrum as before. But to no avail. Instead, disaster struck.

One Wednesday morning, at 7:31 exactly, three men were found dead in a cramped apartment. Their blood was tested. No sign of drugs or strange substance. Nothing odd was found in their stomachs or feces. No signs of a struggle or physical wound. No brain damage. They were perfectly healthy.

'They had just... died,' the newspapers had said.

    But we thought differently.

To our demise, they had checked into the hospital for influenza a month before. But we had no real proof. We could only wait in agony and dread.

A few more sudden, random deaths sprinkled the news over the next few weeks, all having checked into the local hospital for influenza the month before.

In the next town over, the same symptoms of the strange influenza were appearing. But we were helpless. I abandoned my search for the correct formula and started searching for a cure.

More tests were ran on the dead bodies. We took some on the apparently-healthy victims of the strange influenza. We compared the blood, DNA, diet, anything that could point us in the right direction.

    One thing hit home. Hard.

Those with a weak immune system were killed. Those with a strong immune system lived. That didn't strike us as odd at the time.

Little did we know that the AAIH syrum had developed after being exposed to the elements into a super-virus that was smarter than all of our known cures.

It used the basic rules of nature: Survival of the fitest.

It hit me harder than my colleagues, though. A few years ago, I was infected by a bad case of Jungle Fever. It lowered my immune system severely. I was at high risk of being infecting.

    And dying...

    ~~~
