From The Critics
A very handsome book with fine current color plates and period b&w photos. Beneath that surface Wiatrowski gives us sketches of Colorado economic history. He focuses upon the unique lines—those in the mining districts high in the Rockies. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

The Beauty of Trains in the Mountains

This book was very enjoyable to read and view the excellent pictures. The authors combine historical information about Colorado Railroads with current information and high-quality photos. I especially liked info. on currently-operating tourist trains, suchas the Pikes Peak Cog Railway. I highly recommend this book for train lovers and Colorado tourists and/or residents.

    Great book

The narrative and photographs in this book are superlative. I am inspired to get out into the high country and rediscover the beautiful settings and associated railroad history described in this book. For anyone with an interest in great outdoor Colorado landscapes, railroad photographs, a well written history of railroads in Colorado, this book is a must read. In this book, Claude Wiatrowski has displayed his talents as an outstanding writer and photographer.
