School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 2-5A compendium of over 90 amusements for children that includes card games, riddles, street and jump rope rhymes, paper tricks, crafts, brainteasers, and more. Children, their parents, and teachers will find many satisfying alternatives to television in this well-arranged, attractive book. Careful, step-by-step instructions are accompanied by illustrations of the procedures. Lively cartoon characters play cards, mix up play dough, and generally enjoy themselves. Although many of these activities can be found in other sources, and portions of this book originally appeared in the authors' other publications, Cole and Calmenson have added both variations and new activities to the mix. It is this variety and selection that make this a resource that will be used over and over again, for a moment or a whole day when there is "nothing to do."Kathryn Kosiorek, Cuyahoga County Public Library, Brooklyn, OH
