Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Kathie M. Josephs
Sasspants and Hamisher are best friends and are detectives in the pet shop. When the shop is sold, the new owner breaks up the team and sells Sasspants to a real detective. When Sasspants gets to her new home, she sees many of his friends from the shop there and is intrigued with all the detective books and begins reading them. At the shop, a mystery occurs when the owner of the bookstore next door tells the new owner that her cat has disappeared and she is offering a $200 reward. The pets decide to try and solve the mystery. Of course they all put on detective hats. With Sasspants away, will Hamisher and the other pets be able to solve the mystery? Will Sasspants get involved somehow? Maybe Sasspants and Hamisher will get back together again. Each page of this book is filled with delightful illustrations. The author writes the story in such a way as to let the readers feel the friendships between the animals and how they are happy for each other when they get new homes. It is a book that can be read over and over again and still find new things to look at. Graphic novels are favorites of mine as they hook even the most reluctant reader. This book is a real treasure.
