Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Three friends sit on their log in the middle of the magical forest, just as they always do, and discuss the rain. Their forest is a tropical forest and they watch the rain fall every day. It dribbles down their necks and makes large puddles at their feet, and they wonder, "Why? Why does it rain?" Beak blames the gray cloud full of water. Bamboo the panda, Velvet the zebra, and Beak the puffin wonder where they could sit to stay dry. Then they notice that even the birds on the branches get wet, even soaked. The three friends decide to stay where they are. This simple book about three friends has the quiet cadence of a good night story, but is interspersed with factoids about the rain. The back matter includes fun facts about rain forests and animals and has a link to for more information. The website shows age-appropriate links on the subject matter of the book. 2006, Picture Window Books, Ages 4 to 6.
