Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 1-2 Large, clear, full-color photos and a readable text combine to create a brief, informative title about modern dairy farming. Two sentences per page describe the various tasks and operations necessary to operate the Koebels' dairy farm near Three Oaks, MI. The print is large and inviting to beginning readers. Unfamiliar terms are explained in simple terms. Photos are obviously posed, but are nonetheless appealing. Some of the terminology is used rather loosely but this is still one of the best books available on this topic for this audience. Best dairy farming book for children

This book does an incredibly accurate job of describing life on a Midwestern dairy farm. Teachers and parents, this is the BEST book I've ever seen. I wish I would have written it! I am an agricultural journalist, (writing as a freelancer for a national dairy trade publication), the daughter of a dairy farmer, and the mother of three children. In my quest to find a well-written, objective and well-illustrated book on dairying, I have seen some really bad and mediocre books. This one does a great job with details and clear photography. There is no 'Old McDonald' stuff here, and no cows with horns(no one in thier right mind keeps a cow with horns these days). I am getting this book for my children's home and school libraries. The other books by Alice Flanagan are great too.
