Overview

A boy learns of his dragon past; a girl has known of hers for years. They combine their faith, courage, and love to overcome evil, a slayer who seeks to bring an end to dragon heritage, forever.
The kids at school call Billy "Dragon Breath" for good reason. His breath is bad! It isn't the normal, morning-mouth bad; it's the hot-as-fire, "don't-you-dare-get-near-me" bad. Trouble erupts when his hot breath sets off the fire sprinklers in the boys' restroom at school, and his parents learn that they've kept their secret for too long.
Billy finally discovers the secret. His father was once a dragon! Now that's a piece of news a guy doesn't deal with every day! Billy feels betrayed, alien, lost. When the dragon slayer traps him on a cold mountaintop in West Virginia, Billy learns to battle with weapons of steel and spirit while relying on a power he doesn't understand, a power that helps him learn to trust again.
Bonnie, an orphan, tries to find a home, someone to love her, even though she feels like a freak because of a body feature that she calls a deformity. But this unusual feature becomes a life-saving attribute as she discovers that her love for others and her faith in a creator hold the answers she's looking for.

    Great YA Read!

Raising Dragons is a great young adult book. It's a unique look at an old concept - dragons and the Arthurian legends. It seems Billy is part dragon on his father's side and he's starting to exhibit certain dragon powers which are hard for him to control. He makes a friend, Bonnie who is also part dragon, and the adventure begins, because where there are dragons, there are dragonslayers.

The story is full of action and surprises which will keep a young adult reader's attention. The characters are written very well. You see Billy and Bonnie grow and mature as they face the many dangerous situations. They learn to accept themselves and their differentness from other people. With all that and some humor thrown in for good measure, Raising Dragons was a very enjoyable book to read!

    Best Series Ever!!!!!

This is my favorite series ever! It has everything you could want, action, suspense, thrill, romance.... all in a Christian setting. There is NOTHING inappropriate in any of Bryan Davis's books. The first book is a little slow at times but if you stick with it, you will not be disappointed!

    Perfect Start

Raising Dragons is a book for all to read. Davis's average teenage boy is very easy to relate to, and the story is probably the most entertaining book I've read in a long time. It is awesome, kept me on the edge of my seat, and made me think...and laugh! Read it!!!!

    Excellent read

I like this book because it blends Christianity and fantasy in a compelling, action-packed adventure. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien.

    Hi

This was areally good starter book for a series. Most of the book was spent building the charcters so that you could truely understand how they were thinking and feeling in the books to come. My only problem is that not a hole lot happened. Because most of the book was spent creating personalities for the characters there isnt a very steady plot. Then as you continue on in the series of now 10 books, that backround information is extemely helpful. The aspect of relying on god to get you through tough times is very prominent in this series. From the beginning bonnie is a character of stong faith because that is how she was raised. Billy on the other hand is not as stong in faith in the beginning. I refuse to tell you more. Read it! It is so worth the money!

Raising dragons is a masterfully written action adventure/fantasy/christian faith/romance novel. it is the first in a four book series, that goes on on to yet another four book series, and then on to a, so far, two book series. Raising dragons is a  wonderful start to an amazing and impacting book series. if anyone is looking for a good book, pick up Raising dragons as soon as you can!

    Incredible

When I first read this I hought it was just another lame christian fantacy series, but after finishing the 8 book in the series I think it is one of my favorite series ever. Granted it is a little slow at first but once the action starts it never stops. It has some really great life lessons written into it and the end of the 8th book is incredible. I reccomend his series for any avid teenage reader looking for a break from all the dark and depressing and suggestive fantacy series out there.
