Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - Library Journal
Hunting and fishing in the North Woods of the Midwest get a satirical jab from Cowgill, who writes rather poetically, albeit humorously, of the dyed-in-the-wool sportsman. Unlike the down-home style of outdoors humorist Patrick E. McManus, Cowgill uses lots of $50 words to discuss such entertaining topics as nests of vipers, goose pits and deer hunts, and wild turkeys. Libraries with several McManus books, such as The Night the Bear Ate Goombaw ( LJ 6/15/89) and Never Sniff a Gift Fish ( LJ 9/1/83), may wish to buy Cowgill to add some variety to hunting and fishing humor.-- Carol Spiel man Lezak, General Learning Corp., Northbrook, Ill.
