Randolph's Challenge - The Pendulum Swings. Tolkien meets J.K. Rowling in this thrilling new fantasy by Chris E. Warren

Randolph is a quirky and rather hapless soul who discovers that his extraordinary good luck actually stems from powers he is only beginning to discover.

Randolph is a relunctant hero and is not really interested in a quest, preferring his life as a wandering minstrel.

Early in the book, he meets the mysterious Martha, and through her, is drawn into a magical and dangerous world. As his powers develop, so does his friendship with Galdore the Wizard, who develops Randolph's growing abilities. However, Galdore has his own agenda.

There are many worlds and adventures on Randolph's journey, with memorable characters, such as Twig (a wizard's staff with personality!) and Dragon, a sassy black cat.

This is a great book to bring on holiday, but bring a hat and sun-block as you will get so engrossed you might get sunburnt!
