USA Today Bestseller!

Top 20 ebook in the entire Nook store -- Top 5 New Adult book on Amazon --Top 5 Romantic Comedy on Amazon -- All Romance eBook bookstore Best Seller

I never intended to pick up a naked hitchhiker wearing nothing but a guitar. A guitar. Really. I don't collect guys like that (don't ask what kind of guys I do collect), but when you spot a blonde, tanned, sculpted man with a gorgeous smile and his thumb poking up and practically begging you to stop – you stop.

And I definitely never thought I'd be staring into the bright blue eyes of Trevor Connor, the lead singer for Random Acts of Crazy, an indie rock star I followed like the slobbering fileshare fangirl I am. How he came to be nude and lost six hundred miles from home is quite the tale, but how we fell in love is even more unreal.

Because someone like Trevor Connor, headed to Harvard Law next year, isn't supposed to want someone like me, a rural Ohio chick majoring in Boredom at Convenience Store University who is all curves and frizzy blonde hair and manners so unpolished they have sharp edges that make you bleed.

But he did.

When his best friend, Joe Ross, the bass player for Random Acts of Crazy and a man who makes Calvin Klein models look like Shrek, drove eleven hours through the night to rescue him, though, it got real complicated. It's one thing to like two different guys and be torn.

What do you do, though, when maybe – just maybe – you don't have to choose?

As my Aunt Josie says sometimes, "It's always complicated."

* * *

Random Acts of Crazy is a standalone, full-length novel featuring Darla Jo(sephine) Jennings, the 22-year-old niece of Josie Mendham from the Her Two Billionaires series. It has, like many New Adult novels, an exploration of sexuality for the three main characters, doesn't shy away from mature content, and Darla has a sailor's mouth.

Meet the Author

Julia Kent turned to writing romance novels after learning that she could not work as a fighter pilot because her fear of flying disqualified her. Turning to her second love, she became a dog groomer, but had to abandon that job after adopting too many strays. Writing about very real, very flawed people is a natural extension of her life and, well, her. She lives on the east coast with her partner, two small children, seventeen dogs that weigh less than fifteen pounds each, and a monthly consumption of Nutella, brie and french bread that makes cardiologists cringe.

She loves to hear from her readers by email at , @jkentauthor, (Twitter) and on Facebook at facebook.com/julia.kent.100

I bought this eBook thinking that it would be a lovely story of

I bought this eBook thinking that it would be a lovely story of a young woman picking up a stranded musician on the side of the road. In my mind, I assumed the two would become friends after Darla figures out that said musician is the lead singer of her favorite band. Trevor would go back home, or even go on tour, and leave Darla behind. Time would pass and eventually, for the sake of the plot, the two would run into each other...feelings would be felt...actions would be made...cue the Happy Ever After, et cetera, et cetera.

Was I correct? Heck no. Heck. No.

This book was a load of bull. Bull I know books are works of art and the author has complete control over what happens, but that is exactly where the disappointment set in. Instead of making this fictitious story as realistic as possible, the author decides to completely take it in a different direction. Let me tell you, I was not ready for where she was taking this story and I think I'm still scarred.

First off, Darla gives a ride to a naked stranger who is using a guitar to cover his crotch. Seriously? Who in their right mind would do that? If you see a naked person on the side of the road, you call the police and wait for them to give him a blanket and a lift to the station. You don't pick him up!

Secondly, WHERE ON THIS GOOD EARTH does this chick get the urge to have sex with this naked stranger? Okay, I understand that he is the drool-worthy lead singer of her favorite band, but still. This just threw me off immediately and I knew if they were having sex (or attempting to) within the first small chunk of the book, they would be doing it other times in the rest of the story. Boy, was I right.

Sex. Lets just talk about that. I am perfectly fine with reading books that get a little steamy, I mean, I have to live vicariously through these characters, right? I have not once read a book where a threesome pops up, and certainly not one that happened so easily. Just because Trevor shows interest towards Darla while around his friend Joe, that DOES NOT mean that Joe has to be like, "Oh wow, if Trevor likes this chick then there must be something special about her. Maybe I like her too." Honestly. So, [SPOILER ALERT] because of this sudden interest in his "friend's girl", they find that they cannot bare being separated from her and she stupidly follows them to their hotel where a threesome occurs. Great. Just...awesome. Was not expecting that. Well, I was expecting it but at the same time, I don't think any of this would have happened in real life. I KNOW IT IS FICTION AND FAKE AND ALL OF THAT STUFF, I KNOW. It's just...really? Out of all the creative stuff you could have pulled out of your rear, Ms. Kent, why this? I highly doubt that two friends are going to successfully do the same chick in one night, especially together. Nope. I'm not feeling it. Try again.

Speaking of trying again, I would certainly expect a second book. I mean, after all the hype Darla made about moving and leaving her mother and all that, we have to see what happens when she does leave! I really want to know what the job was that whats-her-face (I don't even remember her name...Josie?) was talking about that Darla would be perfect for. Though, after reading this book, I don't know if I have the patience to read the second. I do want to know what happens, just for the sake of knowing, but not if the sequel is going to be as painful as the first book.

Overall, I was just dissatisfied with this book. I love books, I devour them, heck, I have a pile of books next to me that need reviews, but this book...this book was a waste of time. There, I said it. I have never said that about a book. Heck, if a book is horrible, I still don't dislike it. I praise the fact that the darn thing was written, whereas I'm sitting here doing nothing with my life. But honestly, if you want to read this book, go ahead. You might like it. You might not. I just wish I would have not taken a chance with this book.

    Sorry Ms. Kent.

    Would not recommed

I read a lot and dont post reviews often, but this book was not that good. The dialog between characters and the inner monolog of the 3 character were awful. Had to make myself finish this book.

    Fun! Hot! Hilarious!

Thank you! It's not often I laugh so hard tears stream down my face while reading a romance. Kudos for your wit and unique ability to bring to life a story that combines sizzling love scenes with 'real life' insight to each character's personality. I sincerely look forward to reading about the mischief Darla, Trevor and Joe will undoubtedly cause while their stories unfold in Boston!

    Ummmm no

I hate leaving a bad review..but this book should come with a warning.. i have read just over 400 books in the last year, and this is one of the worst. She was just wayyy too easy, ( hint) talking about all the guys from her past. Then bam..here come the tears over him in a Really short time..um no. Most of the story i did not know what was going on. The ending was horable..i mean really?? Dont waste your money!

    Strange

This book isnt very good but it is so bizzare in a way that i just had to read it. It had a few funny parts where it is very possible that you might laugh. Finding out what happened to trevor is halarious. But dont be decivrd there is no love triangle as the book sugests nor is there much 'love & feelings' being shown ( at least not very well only slightly mentioned once or twice) but really it is just a lot of sex. And is also about making your own choices and not letting yourself be "stuck"

There's a lot of crazy in here...THANKS GOD!

I can't forget to mention the hot rockstar wearing only his guitar on the side of the road, so I'll get that out of the way first! This is the book that took me away from it all recently. It had me laughing and enjoying the little world that Julia Kent invited me into. If you've grown up in a small town, woke up in one with no idea how you got there, been stranded in one or felt trapped in one, you will totally get this book. If you've grown up semi-privilaged, stuck under your parents thumbs, always doing what was expected of you for fear of being cut off with no escape in sight, you will totally get this book. This is a story of what happens when these 2 worlds collide. While nearly everything that happened in this book didn't have a snowballs chance at happening in real life, it made you laugh at real life and reminded me that life is short and worth enjoying as much as possible. I had no probalems reading this as a stand alone. There are other books that are tangents/continuations of and for these characters, but there were no issues as far as understanding who the characters were and what their roles were. This book has a bit more of an isolated demographic than most mainstream books, but that's OK because the characters in the book have a demographic all their own. If you want an easy, laid back read for a lazy summer day, pick this book up! If you read it, you will understand that I want my own shed, Julia!

Woo! I loved this book. It was random and romantic without being ridiculous. The characters really spoke to me and were just zany enough to be a little larger than life. I hope there is more in this series! Julia Kent is a wonderful romance writer and now, apparently, a highly skilled New Adult novelist too.

    Rambles and unsatisfying Ending

The writing takes a bit of getting use to as the author tends to ramble on in an attempt to be funny. Some grammatical errors throughout. The story gets better about 100 pages into the story, but I dont think i will ever read another of her work again. In the book summary, it says "stand alone" novel but the ending felt incomplete and author's note at the end even indicates that their story is just beginning and continues in her Billionaire series. It's one thing to have guest appearances in snother series, but I felt that she didn't give a proper closure to this novel so readers will buy her other series. Not to mention that the books in her other series were short stories with repetitive content (120 pages of story and 60 pages of preview for next book...then charge 3.99 each of the next 2 books of equally short length...seriously?). The author is just too greedy for me to follow her works.

    So so

I think the author was trying to be funny with all (& I mean aaalllll) the internal dialouge, but missed the mark. It was way too wordy and too much talk of her frizzy hair. This book was just starting to be intetesting and then it was over. At over 500 pgs the story only covered approx. 36 hours of time. This was an intersting idea, but not an interesting read.

The book did ramble a lot, but what a story..a lot different then I'm use to. Darla, Trevor & Joe omg funny, steamy & halirious...my favorite part...

"No. A live chicken. I wouldn't let you bring it in my cab - chickens can be nasty motherf~ers when they're enclosed like that - so you kissed it on the lips and called it Mavis. Started crying and said you'd be back to marry it someday."
