Overview

Set in the 1700s: A young Englishman is kidnapped in London and brought to the U.S. colonies as an indentured servant. He is forced to labor on a Virginia tobacco plantation while trying to protect a young woman, also an indentured servant, from harm. He struggles with the idea of escaping, but must weigh that against abandoning those who depend on him. His punishment for aiding others to escape is severe.
