What happens when prophetic speculation hits the fan? It's The Rapture Follies, a delightful mix of suspense, insight, and laugh-out-loud irony.

Peter Treiten II, the renowned author of "Rapture!," takes twelve lucky readers on a mission trip to a remote Romanian village, where they plan to drill a well and share Peter's story with the locals. But during the course of their stay the American team disappears, and the town's peasants conclude that the Rapture has occurred and that they have been left behind to save the world. Stir in a shadowy genius with a penchant for power, a band of bumbling terrorists, and murder in high places—and what begins as a comedy of errors escalates into a sidesplitting international crisis.

I have never read a single word of a single book in the "Left Behind" series, or anything by Frank Peretti for that matter, mostly because I enjoy good satire to mediocre fiction. But I read and enjoyed this book, even though I occasionally had to say "ouch" as observations about the protagaonist hit a little too close to home. The book is fun, witty, and insightful.
