Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

The fourth volume of Lauren Kate's Fallen novel series brings this story of human and angel love to a rapturous conclusion. Each of its predecessors has been an international bestseller and it's easy to see why: The story of Lucinda Price and her angelic boyfriend Daniel casting off lives and centuries as they search for an eternal union possesses magnetic appeal for a wide swath of readers.

VOYA - Pam Carlson
Exquisitely beautiful girl meets divinely handsome, gentle, and protective boy who turns out to be an actual angel. The two fall instantly and completely in love. Girl dies. Girl is reborn in another century and meets the same boy once more with the same result, again and again and again. Lucinda and Daniel are obviously meant to be together forever, but what is the price of eternal devotion? Luce and Daniel must battle Lucifer himself in order to continue their wondrous love. Angels of all types join the two in searching for ancient artifacts that will enable them to stop Lucifer from recreating the Fall, a disaster that would end the civilized world. In the fifth and final book of the series, Luce continues her slow recovery of memories from the beginning of her existence and is stunned by the truth she discovers. Each book in the series has built up to this revelation, and each character divulges his or her role. Kate brings everything to a nail biting yet poignant conclusion in which enemies become friends and friends will sacrifice whatever it takes in this ultimate battle between good and evil. She succeeds in providing a splendid supernatural romance without too much gore, guts, or gruesomeness and even provides a lighthearted epilogue. Reviewer: Pam Carlson
Children's Literature - Heather Kinard
What would you do if you had only nine days to save everything you love? Time is running out for fallen angels, Luce and Daniel, as they try to find a way to stop the rebellious Lucifer from erasing the past. Lucifer is determined to wipe away millions of years of history and return to the time and place where he started it all with his rebellion against God. If he succeeds, Luce and Daniel's love will be destroyed. So the fallen angels and their friends, both angel and demon, are in a race to find three relics that will lead them to the spot of the Fall. Only then will secrets be revealed that explain why Lucifer rebelled in the first place and why he now wants to go back in time. But stopping Lucifer is not easy. Dark forces are all around and constantly trying to stop the angels' progress. And even as they battle to survive, Daniel is not completely sure he wants the truth to come out. What Luce does not remember is the role she played in Lucifer's rebellion. Once she discovers her connection to that most historic day, she will have to choose if it is Daniel that she truly loves. While this book is based loosely on Catholic lore about angels and their fall from grace, it is heavy on the romance and definitely more a romantic novel, than a religious history. Fans of the "Twilight" series books would definitely enjoy this storyline. This book is the fourth and concluding book in the "Fallen" series. Reviewer: Heather Kinard

This was one of the most beautiful love stories I have ever read

This was one of the most beautiful love stories I have ever read in my life. Yes, the third book dragged a bit in the sense that it was a constant flip back and forth from Luce in a past life, and Daniel always getting there too late. But, Rapture answered every question between Luce and Daniel. Their love is completely binding, which makes this book exceptional. I agree, however, with many fans on the pressing 'Cam' issue. Lauren Kate should release a short story solely based from Cam's perception of everything he went through to get to his current state. He was a very important character and deserves to tell his side of the story. Anyways, this novel was beautifully written in every sense. I was heartbroken, yet completely elated at the book's final chapters. The epilogue tugged at my heartstrings as well, because you realize the angels can never interact with Luce and Daniel again, but they make the best of it in every way. I am so sad this series is over. I kind of still would like to know more about Luce and Daniel in 'mortal form'. For instance, I would've liked to read about their wedding day, how many kids they ended up having, what their names were, what they did for a living, and the list goes on. I read all 4 books in less than 5 days and cannot believe it's already over. It would be exciting to see this made into a movie, yet I believe my expectations on what Daniel and Cam look like, are not humanely possible to find 2 men who are THAT gorgeous! My expectations of everything are way too high for those two, hehe :) Thank you Lauren Kate, for giving young women like myself, a beautiful love story to dote on for many years to come!

    The long awaited ending.

The book was so fast paced. I finished today when it was released. I really enjoyed it and got into although I think the descriptions could've been explained without that much detail. Finally!! Questions were answered! Although I'm left burning with the intense question that Luce was desperate to have the answer to which she just forgets and doesn't care anymore. WHO WAS LILITH??? WAS LUCE LILITH AND DID CAM LOVE HER???? I'm left infuriated with a burning to passion to know the answers to these questions. Luce also doesn't explore her feelings about him. She thinks about him and questions motives that just end up disappearing. Frankly, I need a book on Cam or a short love story. Why his story wasn't in Fallen in Love is beyond me. Book was good, sad it's over since I'm left with these burning questions about my favorite angel.

    bitter sweet

To begin with I love the series and I have been waiting patiently for the final book for months. The finale was extraordinary and took my breath away. It was such a relief to finally have all of our questions answered, but in some sense I'm a bit disappointed. Even though the ending was so pretty, I felt a need to know more. In reality, I expected Lucinda and Daniel to tip the balance siding with the Throne and living happily ever after as Angels, I mean she has just recovered her whole memory and her wings to start all over? Is kind of sad to think I read all three book simply for the characters to forget it. :( Plus I agree with some of the fans, what about Cam? So many unanswered questions concerning him, his beloved, and the interest with Lucinda. :/ His story should have been included within Fallen in Love. Overall I'm happy with the series, it is quite remarkable, but the ending had a bitter sweet sense to it. The least thing they could have done was kiss.

    Enjoyed the series but.....................

I am kinda sorry to say this but I have been an enormous fan of this series when I first read Fallen but I felt let down for some reason, I can adequately explain my reasoning but its just my feeling after reading the novel. Its an okay read, but it just felt like key elements that help a reader connect to the novel were not there

The fourth book did not disappoint. I have to admit, I felt the third dragged and didn't see the point of it, until I read Rapture and then it all made sense and all my questions were answered. Loved the book. I was sad and happy about the ending. Read it, you won't regret it.
