Overview

Rapunzel by Brothers Grimm.

The story of Rapunzel one of the most popular fairy tales in the world. A lonely couple that wanted a child lived next to a walled garden which belonged to a witch. The wife, as a result of her long-awaited pregnancy, noticed a rapunzel plant planted in the garden and longed for it to the point of death. For two nights, the husband went out and broke into the garden to gather some for her; on the third night, as he was scaling the wall to return home, the witch caught him and accused him of theft. He begged for mercy, and the old woman agreed to be lenient, on condition that the then-unborn child be surrendered to her at birth.

A perfect way to get your children interested in reading and keep them entertained whenever you are busy. Enjoy this illustrated book created with our love and devotion.

I read this book for a class I took called 'Children's Books and Censorship' and I thought it was beautifully done! The pictures are in soft watercolors and provide good context with the story. I would recommend this book for children ages 5-8.

the detailed illustrations with sihlouettes interspersed are fresh, yet classically beautiful. lovely, gentle, feminine color palette, feast for the eyes. the text is traditional, too. very nice retelling, on the wordy side. a book to sit with and savor, not rush through. perfect addition to your fairy tale collection.
