K-Gr 3 Rhyming pairsand some tripletsof onomatopoetic words are illustrated with black-and-white photo graphs in this concept book. While most words fall within the vocabulary range of the intended audience, excep tions to this rule include ``bow wow'' and ``choo choo,'' which are more ap propriate to a preschool audience. Miller's artistry with the camera is evi dent in the photos that accompany ``gush,'' ``plop'' and ``crash;'' how ever, animal stances do not suggest the sounds that they supposedly emit. This read-aloud should help teachers and parents educate children in the richness of the English language. As one anti dote to the current use of ``go'' as the universal verb, adults could ask chil dren to formulate sentences using these words. Nancy E. Curran, formerly at Charleston Junior High School , Ill.
