Edited by Leslie Mitchell at G2 Freelance Editing and re-released 11/22/13.

The world didn’t end with a bang, it didn’t go out in a ball of fire and fury, nor did it end in ice. But in some strange way, ice was the end; or maybe it was the beginning of something more.

Bethany is stunned and horrified when she finds herself suddenly alone in a world that was alive only moments before. Terrified, she flees into the streets of her town, looking for answers, and desperate to reach her family. Panicked, she is nearly captured by the monsters hunting her until Cade steps in to rescue her. Dark and distant, most people in school are wary of Cade, yet oddly fascinated by him. They had once been close as children, but it has been years since Bethany has had any real contact with Cade. As their situation becomes even more perilous, Bethany struggles to come to terms with her past, her terrifying new reality, and her growing love for a boy that is powerful, mysterious, and perhaps even more frightening than the aliens hunting them. Aliens that want more than their lives, they also want their blood.

What an exceptional book. (494) worth of eBook pages. Hands down

What an exceptional book. (494) worth of eBook pages. Hands down my all time favorite book. Erica Stevens one me over with the story of Bethany, Cade and a set of humans who are not willing to give up on the fight to live. The book was nail biting through and through. I could not put the book down because I could not wait to see what would happen next. Love, Gore, and Aliens. A mix between The Walking Dead and 30 Days of Night, Just switch the Zombies for Alians, then slap in a love story that a girl could not resist and you have "Ravenous".

    Escape

I tend to lean towards erotic & paranormal romances because they are escapes for me to be swept out of the ennui life I have these days. Want to escape and not worry about the world around you read something that stimulates more than your mind. LOL

    More for Young Girl Readers!

Would have been a lot better book if writer had let the others have more of a part, instead of everything being about Bethany. She was also constantly depicted as an angry, scared, pull her hair out and childish girl and next chapter she was the greatest, strongest of everyone!! What Gives--
    Who is she?

Ravenous is the story of an alien take over that leaves all but a few people "frozen". Easy prey for the ravenous aliens. It's also a love story that I still find a bit hard to understand. Bethany and Cade are drawn to each other in some undeniable, cosmic way. Bethany has a boyfriend so she is flustered by Cade and her overwhelming feelings for him. When the group of survivors is seperated, leaving Bethany with Cade, their feelings solidify. After a terrifying journey, the survivors are brought back together just to be attacked once again by the aliens. Cade is brutally taken and Bethany is terribly injured but resolves to stop running and fight, and find Cade if he is still alive. I'm looking forward to the next book. My only critique is that the author only tells the story from Bethany's POV. Which would be fine if there wrre more dialogue. I feel like I'm sometimes stuck in her head with no way out.

Ravenous by Erica Stevens is a sci-fi Young Adult novel, but I also felt that it could do well for the New Adult Age range as well. The cover is very pretty, but I find myself wondering what it has to do with the novel. It still did its job and dragging me in, as did the description of the novel. One of the first things about this novel that struck me was the way it dropped you into the thick of the action with deadly precision. From the second I read the first chapter, I was hooked. The novel explores what happens when an alien race pretends to make nice, but in the end it's all a ruse. It's not one the main character, Bethany, is falling for. I admit there were some things about the plot that confused me at first. For example, when Bethany is talking about what happened to her dad and how she knows Cade. I felt that this would have made more sense to me if it were in a Prologue. The plot was solid, as well as being creative. Stevens puts a new spin on what aliens are--cold, unfeeling, deceitful, and worst of all very much like us. Stevens' novel shows the evil of the aliens, but also the greed of the human race. In the end our greed for technology and guidance from those manipulating us is what very nearly puts an end to our civilization. It's as if everyone forgot the saying 'if it looks too good to be true, it probably is'. In addition to the overall plot of alien takeover there is a love triangle. I will honestly say that I hate love triangles, but this one wasn't so bad. Bethany's reasoning and emotions behind her feelings were realistic, and she wasn't so caught up in being in love with two people, as she was in not wanting to hurt the other person. I will note that in the first two to three chapters I had a significant feeling of insta-love, but eventually it is explained and it turns out it is not. Again, this could have been taken away by the aforementioned chapter being the Prologue instead of several chapters in. Stevens' paints a modern world tattered by war with the use of sometimes lengthy description, and while I normally find this tedious, it was not. The author does describe the surroundings in length, but she does not overuse similes and utilizes dialogue effectively. I admit that I could have done with a bit less description of Cade's eyes and physic, but overall I enjoyed this novel. I cannot wait to start the next one.

I don't normally give up on books.

I read over two thirds of this book until I decided enough was enough. Bethany or "Bethy" was an annoying character who is strong, then weak, then happy, then depressed, then guilty, then shameless. It was annoying. And seeing the word "Bethy" made me cringe. It felt like I was reading about five year olds on a playdate, not high school students on the run for their lives. Then there was the overuse of "made my toes curl" in like every romantic scene. Good grief, get a thesaurus. But still, I was able to look past the misplaced illogical romance and inconsistent personality and keep reading. Until the author compares Aiden to a pit bull.

I don't tolerate stereotypical pit bull comments. I have a pit mix on my lap right now, so imagine my surprise when yet another author uses the pit bull to describe unhealthy focus.

It ticked me off. So I had to stop reading. Maybe some day I will try to finish it, but today is not that day.

To be clear, I didn't stop reading just because of the pit bull thing, I was already not enjoying the book. The pit bull thing was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

An interesting alien invasion and a good YA read. Sometimes I felt the romance was a bit out of place when you're running for your life...but since I've never been in that position before perhaps it's normal (not really). The book is well written and as with most stories ends with a cliff hanger so you have to buy another book to see what happens. I miss the books that actually have an ending. Jp

    Not Good Enough

Kind of boring. If there wasn't so much reminiscing in this book, it would be fine. All the "remembering when" stuff just got in the way of the actual story. A litlle reminiscing in a story is okay, but there was just way too much of it in this one.

    Good!

I loved this book! My only dislike is how the author portrayed the main girl in this book. He made her seem unstable and fragile, which I didn't like. But other then that, it's a definite read!
