Overview

When Emily Crane’s car breaks down on a dark, lonely road at night, she is attacked and raped by a man she kills in self defense. That night, the dead rapist walks out of the morgue. Later, Emily begins to experience strange cravings and her body undergoes terrifying changes.

When brutal killings leave victims partially eaten in the northern California coastal town of Big Rock, Sheriff Arlin Hurley scoffs at the talk of werewolves...until a tuft of wolf’s fur is found on a victim. It soon becomes clear that whatever is responsible for the killings, it’s not alone. There are more than one. And they are doing something much worse than killing and eating people.

Nearly 25 years ago, Ray Garton reinvented the vampire mythos with his erotic novel Live Girls. Now he has updated the curse of the werewolf in Ravenous.

Best Werewolf book i've ever read

Everything a person could possibly want in a werewolf book is in this one; savagery, heartlessness, dominance, murder, disbelief, sex (could have been a little more graphic here), love, betrayal and revenge.possibly more. This not a book for the week of heart or someone that thinks werewolves are heroes. I am going to look for a sequel to this book because the ending begs for one. I just hope he will follow up on it

    AN EXCELLENT READ!

I was blown away by this novel. This was the first novel by Ray Garton I have read. I read it in 1 day because it moved at such a fast pace. I never wanted to put it down, it really was great! Highly recommended!

    I Also Recommend:

    Ravenous: A sexy thrill ride

Ounce I read this book I was hooked. It took me only 3 days to read. It is mature, dangerous, and thoughtful. The second book is called BESTIAL and is the story of the few remaining people from RAVENOUS. I highly recomend it.

    insulting.

the author has made the book quite insulting actually. he makes unnecessary comments about overweight people, almost condones wife beating and having affairs.and all the rape scenes were a little much also. spends over half the book doing character development to kill them all in 1 shot with half the book still to go. the book was very drawn out and anticlimactic.

    Not bad

I enjoyed Ravenous. THe werewolf in this film is very nasty and scary. THe book moves at a brisk pace as it also develops the characters to a point. THe downbeat ending affected it though. I guess I'm getting a little tired of horror movies and books ending in such a way. Probably why I like Stephen King so much. Most of his novels, not all, have humankind winning at the end.

    a fabulous horror thriller

Big Rock, California is a small quiet town where violent crime never occurs as everyone knows everyone else. However, that was before now Sheriff Hurley struggles with a apprehending a serial rapist whose last victim works in his office. He feels overwhelmed but keeps searching for clues.------------- Fargo arrives in Big Rock claiming to be a werewolf hunter and that the town is infested with them, Hurley has enough on his plate with the rapist so he ignores the lunatic¿s ramblings although he keeps an eye on him. However, Hurley reassesses his belief when reports of assaults by large animals begin and torn up mutilated bodies surface.-------------- Ray Garton turns lycanthropy into a sexually transmitted disease thus a vicious epidemic cycle occurs in which those victims who survive the sexual assault become unrepentant nasty RAVENOUS werewolves on the prowl needing to rape someone. With a nod to Maslow¿s Hierarchy of Needs the werewolves are motivated by Physiological Needs making them seem real and more terrifying. Hurley is terrific as the beleaguered small-town sheriff initially struggling to accept the evidence, but it is the widening werewolf epidemic that turns this into a fabulous horror thriller.------------ Harriet Klausner
