She is also hard at work on a new Alterran series, The Undiscovered Realms, and the first in a series of novellas, The Alterra Histories, has recently been released (The Fire King).C.S. Well, I make longbows (and shoot them, too!); I ride horses (I am a retired endurance rider--I used to compete in 100-mile horse races over various terrain and in all weather); I have roamed the wilds of North America as a field biologist, and have ridden and roamed the Australian countryside as an equine scientist and endurance competitor. My husband and I love dogs and share our home with thirteen of them. Every now and then my Border Collie, Bob, sneaks onto my computer and posts in the Romance forums on Amazon--he's such a romantic.I'm extremely pleased to be getting up to considerable mischief at Parthian Press, thanks to a really great team of professionals including "A" list graphic novel artist Hope Hoover and 30-year veteran editor Leslie Wainger. I love interacting with my readers, so please join me on Facebook, Twitter, Kindleboards Book Klub, and Goodreads!

    I Also Recommend:

A riveting conclusion to a great fantasy series.

I can honestly say that Ravenshade, the third and final chapter in the Elfhunter trilogy, lives up to its billing. CS Marks has proven herself to be a master of the fantasy genre and those lucky enough to have taken the journey into Alterra have much to look forward to when they read this masterpiece.

Too often contemporary fantasy authors focus on gratuitous sex, mindless violence, and an excessive use of magic to tell their tales. If you are a fan of computer generated fantasy names laden, gore-dripping, raunchy fantasy books, then you would be best to look elsewhere. However, if you are a fan of epic fantasy fare and relish a highly imaginative tale told with rich, elegant prose, then you will find few fantasy books more captivating than this one.

Ravenshade picks up from where Fire-heart, the previous installment of this trilogy, left off. There is a score to settle between the heroes of The Company and the wretched villain Gorgon Elfhunter. The Dark Lord Wrothgar has implemented his sinister plan to bring about the final destruction of the forces of good. The battle for the future of Alterra is about to commence and only one side can claim victory. The fate of all now rests in the hands of two Elven hunter scouts, Gaelen Taldin and her cousin Nelwyn.

Without a doubt, Ravenshade is the most exciting of the three Alterran books. The battle for Alterra has never been more desperate and the stakes have never been higher. After having accompanied The Company on their epic quest through the previous two books, I found myself enamored of the heroes and enjoyed sharing in their triumphs and disappointments. The losses our heroes suffer are heartbreaking and their victories exhilarating. As I drew near to the end of the book, I found myself filled with dread pondering which of my beloved heroes would not survive the epic struggle for Alterra.

Interestingly, this is one of the few books that I have read recently that has no glaring weaknesses. Mrs. Marks has weaved a tale in which I can find no faults. Ravenshade satisfies on so many levels, that I'm left scratching my head to figure out how the book can be improved. Certainly, I wish all fantasy books had this problem!

In the end, Ravenshade and the entire Elfhunter trilogy stands as a bright beacon for the kind of quality storytelling which is possible only in a fantasy book. If only more fantasy authors would take note of Mrs. Marks example and tell their stories with the same incredible wit and imagination, this genre would be richer for it. Truly one of the best fantasy series out there and Ravenshade ends the trilogy on a high note. Can't wait for the encore.
