Overview

While the raw food diet is the fastest growing alternative approach to eating because of its health benefits, preparing raw food dishes is so new that many people don’t know where to start. With 500 color photos, this friendly, step-by-step guide gently walks readers through recipes to create amazingly delicious and nutritious meals. Victoria Boutenko and her family are known worldwide as the Raw Family, living on a raw diet and teaching classes since 1994. Throughout the years they have perfected scores of scrumptious recipes with the idea of not only spreading the gospel of the diet’s health benefits, but also making the raw foods lifestyle realistically possible and enjoyable.Mouth-watering rather than medicinal, simple rather than complicated, the recipes presented here include jams, scones, soup, crackers, nut milk, truffles, chocolate cake, mousse cake, and more. Complete, illustrated directions make it simple for both avid raw foodists and novice cooks alike to embrace the diet favored by Woody Harrelson, Demi Moore, Donna Karan, and other celebrities.

    Great book but...

I ordered this book because I am in the process of transitioning from the SAD to a raw food diet. I was very excited about my purchase until I got the book. Quite a few of the recipes require the use of a professional blender, such as a Blendtec or Vitamix, and a food dehydrator. These facts are not mentioned in the online description of the book. Had they included this missing and vital information in the online description, I probably would not have bought the book. I don't have either of these items, although I am planning to purchase them in the future. In the meantime, this book just sits on my shelf.

The book itself is beautiful, well put together and very easy to follow. The pictures are fantastic. It is a very well put together raw food recipe book and I'll probably get more use of it once I get the blender and dehydrator.

Had it not been for them leaving out the tools you need to make these recipes, I would have given this book a 10+.

I am really enjoying this book. I have a normal blender and juicer and am able to make everything but the dehydrated foods, but those can be made in an oven if need be. Green smoothies are now a part of my family's every day life! If anything could be improved, I would like more recipes than given! I can't wait to try the desserts!
