I am requiring my son to read this...

This book will explain to you, in clear and crisp detail, precisely the reason why if you are poor, a minority or a poor minority, your best legal defense is just simply do not get involved with the criminal legal system in the first place.

What this book does is walk you from the arrest, to the courthouse and to your cell, explaining each step in concise and easy-to-understand language. It He makes liberal use of cases he has been a part of to paint a picture as to how the guilty can reduce their sentences with a little Machiavellian maneuvering, while the innocent can find themselves serving years because they were foolish as to the process they were dealing with.

It is a bit of a depressing read; sometimes, it will leave you outraged. More often than not, you will simply feel enlightened and know that the criminal game is a fool's game - if you don't have the right connections or cash flow to lubricate the path.
