Meet the Author

Raymond Mullikin is an educator and cartoonist.

Ironically, Raymond's career as an educator he had never thought he was capable of doing. “I have always thought teaching to be a very noble career,” said Raymond, when interviewing himself for this About the Author page. “I just didn’t feel that I was capable of dealing with 30+ feisty children in a classroom.”

His career in cartooning is a job he had desired ever since he was 5 years old. “I had created ads and comics for local newspapers since I was a kid,” said Raymond. “My first ad was published at age 12. In college I did a couple animated films for some independent film theaters, which was fun doing for awhile, but very time consuming. I’ve also tried publishing my own children’s books, graphic novels, and video games.”

While he was taking graphic design classes in college, he started working and volunteering at the Templeton Unified School District. “It all started in high school, when I was invited to the Elementary and Middle schools to do drawing lessons with the children,” recalled Raymond. “Before I knew it, I found my self teaching fitness wheel, art, and other things to packs of children every week. I don’t know what happened!”

Info about Raymond’s comic magazine series is in Comic Buyers Guide #1628, May 2007, next to Special Spiderman 3 article on Page 54.

    zine-style book

I have a strong draw for art in my comics and this didn't live up to what I would have liked to see. I don't mind very stylized art, but there should be solid design and drafting skill behind it.

It wasn't something I enjoyed that much, but it was not inherently terrible. Give it a shot for some stories with amateur art and stories.

    BOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do NOT get this book. If you have the regular nook, it does not even fit on the screen. Plus the words are so tiny on the regular nook. If I had to pay for this book, I would get angry ripping me off. You WILL regret geting this book. :-(
