We (my 11-yr-old daughter and I) have been using this book and the accompanying Reading Text to learn Latin. We are both new to Latin and are learning together. These books have taken us from knowing zilch to knowing at least something in two months. We both can catch the enthusiasm of the authors and find that every possible point of difficulty for rookies is explained well, and sometimes with humour. The book has 6 sections - we are only part-way through section one so far, but I think that these 2 books may be the only texts I will need for all my family for as far as they could care to go in Latin during their school years. It seems to be very comprehensive. I have enjoyed the approach of reading in Latin being concurrent from the beginning - it is an encouragement to look at a page or so of a Latin play (carefully graded, of course) and realise that my daughter and I have read and understood it!! I would recommend this to homeschooled highschoolers (my daughter is younger, but able and motivated). It is not written as a text for elementary school-age students, but it can certainly be used before the last years of high school. Both books are a set, you need to have the readings as well as the grammar and vocab and exercises. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
