Overview

The most important thing in Amanda's life is negotiating a successful merger between her company and Brant Computers, a family-held competitor. It should be a done deal: Company president Eric Brant is on board with the idea. But when Amanda arrives in Eric's office, it is his cousin Simon Brant who greets her-and Simon is anything but agreeable. He's not about to give up control of the family company or lay off loyal workers. Squaring off against the sexy, brilliant, sexy, obstinate, sexy, eccentric, not to mention sexy Simon is completely frustrating-and a total turn-on. And when he walks out on her presentation, sidetracked by another one of his brilliant ideas, Amanda is shocked...and intrigued...no, furious!...and...and...and so attracted she can barely enter data into her tablet...

Simon has never met a woman as passionate and driven as Amanda, or as devastatingly attractive. He can't decide if he wants to put her on the next plane home-in the cargo hold-or kidnap her and spend a long weekend showing her exactly the kind of negotiating he likes best. Come to think of it, if the lady wants war, maybe they should engage in full-on battle...in the bedroom...and see who will be the victor. But when intimacy leads to an explosive passion, it might be time to think of a different, more permanent kind of merger...one that's less about business and all about pleasure...

    Quirky

The main characters are both social misfits to some degree. That makes this book unusual. But the last third drags on with no character development.... so hard to give itmore than a 2 or 3 star rating, even within the romance genre.... I liked the male character a lot, however, and how he couldn' t read social cues. I think the author could go to town with this idea.

    What A Surprise!

This book really surprised me. I had no idea how much I would enjoy it. I have read one or two other Monroe books I think, but this one was really good. I loved the relationship build up and the characters. The quirky Simon was a great character and I actually liked Amanda too. This book has made me want to read more Monroe books.

10+ STARS! Sexy, Sensual, stay-up-all-night-reading wonderful!

Amanda and Simon fit perfectly together. You'll fall in love with Simon's absent-minded professor ways. Simon is a hunky genius who doesn't really believe in love and Amanda is a woman who's never had love. A must read! Lucy Monroe's best work ever!

    fantastic surprise of a book!

i just picked up the book and decided to buy it one day, but i haven't regretted it. this book immediately became my favorite book. i loved how she gave the characters such depth, highlighting Amanda's insecurities and the way Simon washed them away. it's the way i want a man to treat me, to make me feel. i felt like a different person after reading the real deal... maybe because i related so well to the main character? lucy monroe is a surprisingly fantastic writer and i can't wait to read more of her work.

add this author to your auto-buy list

Lucy Monroe flexes her writing muscles in her first single title for Kensington Brava. She has a strong writing style and great 'voice'- you can actually feel the characters come to life on the pages as you get further engrossed in their adventures. She takes an ordinary premise: company takeover, and two characters that are attracted to each other but on opposite sides of the fence - and breathes life, love, and humor to them. Add a crazy, eclectic best friend, a snarky ex-husband, and a cantankerous 'man Friday' and the supporting cast of secondary characters are 'real' and wonderful additions. The fact that family values plays a strong supporting role as well...you'll see what I mean when you run, don't walk, to the bookstore to BUY THIS BOOK. Get home, run a bubble bath, lock the door, and enjoy! Amanda and Simon are waiting!

    WOW

I was not too familiar with this author and bought the book on recommendations of friends and, boy am I glad I did. This story grabbed my attention on the first page and never let up until the end. It was beautifully written with a well developed plot and a warm, vulnerable herione and a hero that I wished I could bring home, with some great sex scenes thrown in. If you want a story that can hold your attention and leave you with a smile, then you really want to get this book. Ms. Monroe has become an auto buy for me and I look forward to her next book eagerly.

Where can I find a guy like Simon?

When Amanda Zachary gets the chance to head up negotiations for a merger between her company and Brant Computers, she knows she's one step closer to getting that promotion that she's wanted for so long. Things are going well with the negotiations, but when she meets eccentric Simon Brant, a shareholder in Brant Computers, Amanda realizes things aren't going to go as smoothly as she'd hoped. Simon is drop-dead gorgeous and absolutely frustrating! He is opposed to the merger and isn't afraid to tell her that. Can Amanda fight her attraction to Simon and keep it all business while trying to change his mind about the merger? Simon was such a special hero! He was a wonderful mix of sexy and sweet. Amanda was a very likable, strong woman who had been hurt in the past. The sexual tension between Simon and Amanda was strong right from the beginning and the love scenes were very sensual. I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop. I didn't want to put this book down! If you're looking for a book that is fun, has wonderful characters and steamy love scenes, THE REAL DEAL is one book you don't want to miss!

In the boardroom or in the bedroom,

sparks fly between Amanda and Simon. He's a brilliant inventor, more at home in the laboratory than with people. The failure of Amanda's first marriage has made her determined not to trust her emotions and she has devoted her life to her job. As the book evolves, we see Simon and Amanda struggling to overcome their pasts and experience a love to last for all time. Mrs. Monroe has a sure hit with The Real Deal and I can't wait for future releases by this very talented author.

This is definitely the real deal!

Harlequin Presents author Lucy Monroe has ventured into the exciting world of Brava, and will wow you with her first contribution, 'The Real Deal'. Amanda Zachary is a junior executive on the rise at Extant Corporation, and she's about to negotiate a deal that will bring her one step closer to her goal of being the youngest executive in the company. All she has to do is complete a merger between Extant and Brant Computers, and with Eric Brant, the president, in favor of the merger, she's confident she will close the deal in no time. She doesn't count on Eric's cousin, Simon, to bring her plans to a screeching halt. Or to attract her so intensely. As the person in charge of research and development, Simon Brant is a scientist who doesn't think like other people. His days are filled with formulas and experiments, and the only schedule he follows is his own. But when he feels his family's company is about to be destroyed by this merger, Simon knows he can't let that happen to the employees of Brant Computers. No matter how beautiful Amanda Zachary is. Having been hurt before, Amanda is determined to ignore the attraction and convince the stubborn scientist how beneficial the merger would be for both companies. Simon is just as determined to make sure the merger doesn't happen, and fights his desire for Amanda. They are from two different worlds, and he realizes those worlds just don't mesh. With Simon, Lucy Monroe has created a wildly irresistible, dynamic hero whose intelligence is extremely sexy, and his insecurities about himself are endearing. Amanda is confident when it comes to business, but when it comes to relationships, she's a shy, reserved woman who past experience has made her unsure around men. Together, these two set the pages on fire! Simon sees Amanda as a sexy, voluptuous woman that must have men constantly chasing after her, and Amanda sees past Simon's looks to his lonely, vulnerable side, a result of growing up too fast. Throw in a prickly housekeeper by the name of Jacob, and you've got an addictive mix of passion and humor. You will LOVE this book! Watch for more to come from this talented writer.

    A Fantastic Book

The Real Deal is a must have book. Amanda Zachary has come off a disastrous marriage to focus on her career. She is brokering one of the most important merger deals. Amanda runs into a problem with one Simon Brant. Simon very seldom interfered in the business side of Brant Computers. He was always engrossed in his lab. But this possible merger has brought him to the negotiations and head to head with Amanda. Simon and Amanda are taken aback by their intense reactions to each other. What starts out as a business deal becomes a battle of wills to fight their growing attraction. Each has issues to overcome and watching them come to terms is moving. The Real Deal is a sensational book. It¿s sexy, steamy, funny and emotional. Simon and Amanda are delightful to watch. This book really touched my heart and should be on any auto-buy list.
