I couldn't stop giggling as I read this book by the author of Real Family Camping! It is filled with sage advice, historical curiosities, literary diversions, and a whole bunch of great ideas for a truly enjoyable Halloween. Decorations, activities, costumes, party favors--it's all here. Want your kids to get back to the roots of Halloween? Teach them jokes so they can earn their treats (a helpful list of jokes is provided)! Scared to plan a Halloween party? Don't be--daSilva lays out a step-by-step to-do list to ease your preparations. The fortune-telling section of the book is a high-light (find out what it means if you toss your shoes and they land with the right shoe facing up). The recipes run the gamut from caramel apples to traditional Irish Halloween treats. I can't wait to try them all!

This book combines the activities and treats of your child, a little history and whole lot of fun! It reminds me of a compilation of great Halloween Party magazine cutouts - like 200 of them! It shares ideas of goodies, costumes, decorations, games, and anything else you can think of to celebrate this Halloween. Whether you are throwing a party or want to create some traditions with your family, this is a fun read. The author adds humor and history to keep your interest. It's worth the 4 bucks to help inspire you to get creative! We were inspired to make a nature made "Happy Halloween" sign to great all of our trick-or-treaters!
