More About This Textbook

This book is the one many people in the military do not want recruits to read. The guide contains extremely helpful hints and advice to help new enlistees during the rigors of military training. Most important, the information is free from biased interests because it is "written by a recruit for a recruit." Although tailored toward the Army and Marines, any person enlisting in the Armed Forces will find the information exceedingly valuable. Even if a person is just thinking about the military, this book will help.

    Totally Worth It!

I bought this book (2nd Edition) used and it turned out to be great. The author does a nice job of giving an insider's view and provides extremely helpful advice. The book is well written, current and has good resources...including an e-mail contact. I found the psychology of basic training part of the book very interesting. In my opinion, if someone is going to go through the rigors of basic training, I'd buy this book (and talk to other helpful people). Although the book is somewhat pricey new, you can save money buying it used or the download version.

    Very Helpful

I ran across two books about Basic Training from the same author. The second edition (blue cover) is excellent and is the most recent book about this topic (2003 copyright date). I bought the book for my my brother who was going to basic training. He thought it was well worth the price and would have paid double if needed. Also, a nice part of the book is that the author gives his e-mail address for you to communicate with him. Great buy!

    Helped my husband

My husband joined the ARMY at the end of 2003. We found this book and according to him and what I experienced in the Marine Corp. it was exact. I highly recommend anyone to buy this book and read it before leaving for bootcamp/basic training. It will help you out more than you know. Yes, the book is about common sense, but you will learn that common sense doesn't come easy when your facing the D.I. or Drill Sgt. This book will help you to remember. Enjoy!!!

    not that helpful

this book was not that helpful. The tips in this book are nothing short of moronic and obvious. Id recommend buying this book at a garage sale or someplace cheap, but buying it new would be a waste of money, look elsewhere
