Over the years, we have bought nearly every thai cook book we could find on a quest to duplicate our favorite thai dishes. A few months after purchasing "RealThai", we gave all the rest away. This book has the best authentic recipes, they are plain and simple to follow, and has become a staple in our kitchen. Highly recommend!

I have a passion for cooking and eating Thai food. Having been married to a Thai man, visiting Thailand, I would definately recommend this cookbook for those who are interested in getting a good representation of Thai recipes. It's very reasonably priced, organized well, and the recipes are the real thing. The next best thing is actually going there, which is THE best. I do not recommend buying this one: True Thai: The Modern Art of Thai Cooking. It tells you to add ketchup to Pad Thai??? Big no no. I gave that cookbook away.

I bought this book because I love thai food and I thought it's time for me to learn how to cook it rather than eating out all the time. This book is great. There are some ingredients that are hard to find in regular supermarkets like shrimp paste or lemongrass but easy to find in online ethnic stores (go to thaitemple.com or ethnicgrocer.com for example). I look forward to cooking from this book because I know that it's always going to turn out great. One thing though is the portions are kind of small for two people so you should increase the ingredients by one third or more.
