If you are interested in learning to draw or improving your drawing, Diane Cardaci's books are THE best!

I actually found this book at a local crafts store as I am always seeking ways to improve my drawings. I prefer pencil and charcoal to any other media (portable; economical; engrossing; etc.) but getting realistic textures into my work is a challenge. Practically all of the books on drawing that I've found go through the basics and essentially leave textures to cross-hatching or blending with a stump. Diane's book does a fabulous job of explaining and step-by-step demonstrating great techniques for creating values and textures that add the kind of vitality and depth to a drawing that I have sought. I so very highly recommend Diane's books! I came to this website (Barnes & Noble) to see if she has any other books and I am going to order the two I do not have.
