I used to play the album for my daughter when she was 4 or 5 (she's now 33) and now I'm buying the CD for my granddaughter. Can't wait to hear the songs again. We loved it then and I'm sure we'll love it again. The music is lively and wonderful!

In response to Ms. Lizard's comment about Rosie wanting to be Mrs. Dracula... IT WAS CATHY! Rosie's best friend. Rosie suggested the role because Cathy wanted a part and she was being a 'rotten blood-sucking snitch'. I remember every word. The audio cassette tape of Really Rosie somehow fell into my hands when I was very very young, and to this day I catch my self singing the music. My favorite is probably "Very Far Away" 'Mama's in the window and Papa's in the shop. Let's live inside a movie that never ever stops.' Someday I hope to own the record version of it, as I lost my tape a long time ago. This musical made me dream of Broadway throughout childhood, I recited it to my mirror when I couldn't sleep. If you've never heard it and there's a kid in your heart, get it, and listen to it with her/him. I'm 19, and I still love Really Rosie.

I can still sing by heart most of the lyrics on the ''Really Rosie'' album. I remember when my Mom brought it home for me, I was 7! The songs have stayed with me, and the joy it brought to my childhood cannot be compared to any other music of the time. My original album is no longer playable, so it is great that it has finally arrived on CD. Now my 2 boys listen to it, as well as watch the video. We love to sing Pierre together. Carole King is inspiring, as are the books by Sendak.

A fantastic childrens album by one of the greatest! A must have, especially if your child (like my daughter) loves Maurice Sendak's Nutshell Library. I still own the album I had when I was growing up, but the sound quality here is definitely worth the additional purchase. Why are there not MORE kids albums this good???

Carol King's music influenced me as a young woman. Her soulfulness was empowering. I stumbled on a Sendak ''Where the Wild Things Are'' video years ago at the library for my kids and was never able to find it again to track this music down. To share the creative and earthy connectiveness King threads in Really Rosie, and all her work, with my young children was really fun. I am elated to find this once again. My kids have very fond memories of ''Pierre'' and ''Alligators All Around''. This is music I relish and hope to share with my grandchildren in years to come. Although my daughter is only 11, we can listen to it anyway. I found it again! It will never get old for us.

''Really Rosie'' became my favorite from the time it left the album jacket at age 7. At age 29, I can still pull lyrics from my memory at will. ''The Enchanted One'', ''One was Johnny'', ''Chicken Soup with Rice'' are all fun, with Maurice Sendak's special edgeiness. ''Pierre'', a song about a boy who doesn't care at all, is a moral tale that I still carry with me daily. (Akin to Job, he was swallowed up--by a lion.) Don't worry, there is a happy end. I would not recommend this for kids under 5--it is a little rougher Sendak than ''Where the Wild things are''--Chicken Soup dies from choking on a bone, Rosie dreams of being Dracula's Wife...don't get me wrong, I think this is a very important piece of children's music, but be forewarned: Sendak is not Raffi. The lyrics for ''Pierre'', ''One was Johnny'' and ''Chicken Soup with Rice'' are found in the cutest boxed set ever, Sendak's ''Nutshell Library'' which you can find with the Kid's Books. Here comes the sales pitch: Wouldn't you want to own a kid's CD that includes the line, ''When everybody screams and yells, who calms them down, who rings their bells, when everybody screams and yells...The Enchanted One, that's me''. For all of us who wish upon wish and sometimes succeed in this enchantment, for children (in age and at heart) and for intelligent parents who enjoy sarcastic wit...this CD is the one that you want.
