Weltkrieges. Politiker jeglicher Couleur beteuerten, Xenophobie und Rassismus in Zukunft im Keim ersticken zu wollen. Nie wieder sollte es Tendenzen geben, die simple Lösungen mit Haß auf Minderheiten paaren würden.
Doch mit dem Aufstieg der Neuen Sozialen Bewegungen Mitte der 80er Jahre feierte auch die Radikale Rechte eine Renaissance. Und sie nützte ihre Chance indem sich neue rechte Parteien in Europa etablierten. Österreich, Belgien, Schweiz, Italien und Frankreich geben nur einige Beispiele für den Aufstieg dieser Parteien ab.
Besonders Frankreich gilt seit vielen Jahren als Vorzeigeland der Radikalen Rechten. Der Front National - mit Jean-Marie Le Pen an der Spitze - schaffte innerhalb kurzer Zeit den Aufstieg zum ,,big player" in der französischen Parteienlandschaft.
Diese Arbeit möchte deshalb untersuchen, was genau die Ursachen für den Aufstieg des Front National in Frankreich waren und ob sich ein einheitliches Erklärungsmuster für den ,,Rechten Erfolg" in Europa finden läßt.
