Overview

Blush: This is a suggestive romance (love scenes are not graphic).

First in the Reckless series.

Hannah and Shadow had played together as children. He taught her to fish. She shared her mother's cookies with him because he had no mother of his own. Then, abruptly, Shadow and his people left the valley. When he returns, Hannah is a beautiful young woman and Shadow is a full-fledged warrior of the Cheyenne Nation.
Their friendship quickly turns to something much deeper and Hannah finds herself falling in love with the handsome man who sweeps her into his arms, awakening a fierce longing she has never known.
But there is talk of war between the whites and the Cheyenne, and Hannah knows Shadow will be considered the enemy. When Hannah's homestead is attacked, Shadow comes to her rescue. Though their love grows stronger, Hannah fears the day when she will be forced to choose between his world and hers.

    I fell in love.

I'm a hopeless romantic and I fell in love with this book. I read it in two days and I fell in love with Shadow. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading romances and the native culture. I love how Hannah is so innocent and falls in love with a brave warrior like Shadow.

Good Love Story from beginning to end

This is a good love story from beginning to end, with all the challenges that Hannah and Shadow met, from war, family, famine, loss of a child, imprisonment, and happiness in the end with Hannah escaping because of her child and final happiness with Shadow and they end up as a happy family. When you first start reading this, you think, when are the challenges in their lives going to end. Why can't they be happy? But, as all the White/Indian relationships in that time have had their challenges in their different worlds, Hannah and Shadow make it through with faith in each other. At the happy end, you want to wipe your forehead, and think, boy, was that a challenging story or what?

The Standard for Romance Novels everywhere

Madeline Baker sets the standard for Romance Novels and stays there with this book and the other three after it. It is a MUST read!!! From beginning to end, you ARE there!!! Unforgettable characters, Madeline Baker, takes you a one way trip to the Wild West and introduces you to the people that lived during that time.

    hands down, ms. baker's best

'reckless heart' has always been and always will be my favorite of ms. baker's collection. every single emotion came out so much so that i was happy when the characters were, upset, humiliated, in love, and disappointed, much like shadow and hannah were. the story overall played out so well, that i could envision each detail quite vividly.
