Holly has always been the reckless Sutherland sister, the one most likely to hitch up her skirts and gallop astride a powerful stallion. Holly's affinity for horses leads Queen Victoria to enlist her help when a prized Thoroughbred colt disappears. To catch the horse thief, Holly must put on her best manners and mingle with the dashing Colin Ashworth, Earl of Drayton. Uncertain she can trust him, she is also powerfully attracted to him.

Publishers Weekly
The third installment of Chase’s Her Majesty’s Secret Service series disappoints when compared to 2010’s creative, science-focused Outrageously Yours. In the service of young Queen Victoria, Holly Sutherland must uncover whether Colin Ashworth, earl of Drayton, switched a prized horse given to the queen by his unscrupulous father. The queen wishes to give the stallion to Prince Albert and “delivering any but the promised colt... could spark an international incident.” This weak premise sends Holly off to Ascot, where she renews her acquaintance with Colin, whose interest in science is described but never developed, and they embark on a road trip to find the missing colt, who is suspected of having mystical qualities related to an ancient family curse. Fans of Chase’s previous efforts will be less enthralled by this pleasant but formulaic romance. (Dec.)

This is the 3rd book in a series (Her Majesty's Secret Service) from Allison Chase. As in the start of all Ms.Chase's books, Queen Victoria usually has some errand for the Sutherland sisters to perform. Holly Sutherland's assignment is to go undercover and find the Queen's prize Thoroughbred colt. Her mission is to get the colt and return in a certain length of time. Holly must enter society and mingle (which she detests) to catch the horse thief. She meets single, dashing and handsome Colin Ashworth, Earl of Drayton. He seems suspicious when she asks things about horses and racing. He doesn't trust her and tries to get one step ahead of her questions. Holly on the other hand tries to use her womanly wiles on him (which she thinks isn't working). If you like books with plenty of romance, this is the one to read. Thank you Ms.Chase for writing such a excellent book. Can't wait til the next one.

I just discovered Allison Chase at the beginning of this series. Her story lines are somewhat complex within a romance format so you get a little mystery, even a little paranormal and of course love expressed through beautifully developed characters. I loved this book because it provided historical insight into the Ascot race system.
