SHE'S GOT NOTHING TO LOSE AND EVERYTHING TO PROVE
Growing up on the wrong side of the tracks in Bend, Mississippi, Becky Lynn Lee doesn't have the luxury of dreaming. With an abusive father and a broken mother, she always thought that this was it. But after the ultimate betrayal, Becky Lynn can no longer live the nightmare.
Determined never to go back, Becky Lynn escapes to Hollywood. As a photographer's assistant, she discovers a talent for spotting beauty and capturing the perfect shot. When the camera eventually turns on her, the awkward, shy Becky Lynn of her childhood disappears. But when the success she's achieved is threatened, Becky Lynn must find the strength to embrace her new identity and put the ugliness of her past behind her forever.
Becky Lynn was a nobody in Mississippi, or so everybody told her. So she fled to a world where dreams come true. Jack wanted to be a somebody. He wanted to be the top fashion photographer in the world. Now, supermodel Becky Lynn and high-priced photographer Jack Gallagher are in constant demand. But beneath the surface lurk secrets that threaten to destroy all they've achieved. Original.

If you love Big Girl by Danielle Steel, you'll love Red by Erica Spindler. Before she was a best-selling thriller author, she was in romantic suspense. Like Big Girl, this deals with loving yourself for you who are, and it doesn't know what anyone else thinks. It's also about fashion, photography and modeling. Becky Lynn Lee is poor and ugly from Mississippi, who comes from a broken home and a group rape, when she escapes to California for a new life. Jack Gallagher wanted recognition from his father, when his threats his other son better. Both rage and fury brings Becky and Jack together in California, as they work together, and take on the world, with tons of obstacles in the way. When they fall in love, things are complicated, as they are thrown for a loop, as the years fall by. In the end, they let go of the past and move on. What a beautiful story!

It just proves that Erica can write anything - although I prefer her murder/suspense novels the best.

Mya moans and moves so that his fingers go in deeper. She runs her hands down his chest and ends at his length. She starts playing with it, teasing him.

Jace grinned, "Well, we'll just have to do something about that, won't we?" Jace, with swift and practised ease, soon had Mya in nothing but her lingeria. "Now... where were we? Oh, yes..." Jace resumes is massage, this time including a breast in the mix.

This story is truly moving. The perfect story for those who want something dark and yet also want a sense of hope. The beginning starts off with a sense of darkness and fear instilled in the character but as she goes it becomes a quest of sorts for her to find herself. I don't recomend it for those who are under 16.(It is very mature and there is sex). However all parts of the story are necessary and add to a plot full of twist and turns. This story is also available as a manga(japanese comic) if you know where to look. However it is not available on Nook or at B&N. It is also a very good read. It is incomplete though...

It's going to be a long, bumpy, nail-biting but thoroughly enjoyable ride.Ms Spindler has not failed me yet. She spends very little time on fluff such as: long, lingering glances, heaving bosoms, passions inflamed, sexual tension BLAH BLAH BLAH!! 20 years ago I ate that stuff up but now I want my mystery served with a side of suspense, a dash of whodunnit, and good guys I can really care about. I also adore the New Orleans settings in her books. She truly is an expert at her craft & her books are blessngs in my life. I escape to another place & time, even if only for a little while. But I always go running back to where I left off. I love all of her books. Every single one. Try her. I promise you won't be disappointed.

I own and have read all of her books, and even though this is not my favorite of hers I would recommend to read it and all of her other ones. This is different from her others because it does not have the murder and mystery that her later books do. But it does not lack that sit at the edge of your seat cannot sleep tell its finished suspence.

This is my first time reading an Erica Spindler book, and it definitely won't be my last! Red is very well written, and I liked that it gave you the points of view of all the main characters. Becky Lynn is a girl from "the other side of the tracks," who has no friends, no family support and is brutalized by the men around her. To escape, she runs to California where she lands a job at a salon and her luck changes, but not necessarily for the better. <BR/>The moral of the story to me was that despite everything Becky Lynn has been through, if you take away the make-up and pretty clothes, she still sees herself as the same girl from Bend, Mississippi who nobody loved and cared about. She learns to find her own voice and self worth and finally comes to peace with it all.
